All others abandon hope if ye post here!
What I need to know:
1. Is there a clear tier of players at the top of the draft or is it a pretty shallow blend through the lottery?
2. Who is starting to look better as a result of the combine? Anyone entering in your top 5 that wasn't there previously?
3. If we go for a big early, is there a sg in second round territory that might make it worth seeking a second round pick?

http://www.bobcatsplanet.com/vb/showthread.php?15166-Your-ideal-2014-draft-for-Charlotte.&goto=newpost
Tue, 14 May 2013 04:41:33 GMTOkay, so as most of you probably know, the Bobcats are set up very well for next season's draft. I've written up and down about this extremely thin draft, and I know it's merely a stepping stone to set us up for 2014.
What's your ideal draft for the Bobcats?
I'm making three assumptions for the draft—Charlotte ends up in the top three in the lottery, Detroit ends up with the 9th pick (top 8 protected), and Portland ends up with the 13th pick (top 12 protected), thus giving the Bobcats three lottery picks.
There are any number of variables to consider, chiefly the fact that most of the lottery prospects will be freshmen next season and the fact that the Bobcats could give up a pick in a trade, or even gain one. Who knows? For the sake of this thread, I'm assuming they get a top 3 pick, No. 9, and No. 13.
1-3: Obviously, Andrew Wiggins is the guy. He's the next Kevin Durant. He's going to be a franchise player. If Wiggins is off the table, both Jabari Parker and Julius Randle will be great additions, and both also have the potential to be franchise players. Can't lose with a top 3 pick in next season's draft.
9: Glenn Robinson III. I love this guy, and hoping that he falls to ninth overall is a little hopeful. He's very similar to MKG, and I think the fact that he decided to go back to Michigan for one more season was an excellent decision. His primary issue is confidence to be a go-to guy, but he can do it all on the court. He'd be an absolutely wonderful back-up and spot starter behind MKG, and can also slot in at SG.
13: Noah Vonleh. Again, wishful thinking he makes it to 13, but he's going to be a very versatile PF... a more athletic version of Josh McRoberts. If Vonleh were eligible for this season's draft, he'd probably go in the top 5 or 6.
Assuming Nerlens Noel is drafted this year, here is a potential partial depth chart.
PG: Kemba Walker
SG: Gerald Henderson
SF: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
PF: Andrew Wiggins
C: Nerlens Noel
That's not even taking into account free agents that would be attracted to a young, growing team with star talent finally on the roster. It also gives you a really good bench with GRIII, Bismack, Vonleh, and Jeff Taylor.
A LOT of this is wishful thinking. A whole lot. I feel confident that this team is going to be better in 2013-14, but not good enough to climb out of the cellar. Knocking on wood, I still think they'll get a top 3 pick. I'm a huge fan of GRIII's game, and I think his stock might rise depending on how the HS Seniors do in their freshman season, but it's quite conceivable that he goes anywhere from 7-10. Similar story for Vonleh, who is going to have to prove his versatility translates to the high-powered Big 10.
Imagine if we picked up a big-time free agent on top of that line-up? Chris Bosh? Carmelo Anthony? DeMarcus Cousins? Maybe even Tony Parker? That's a team that wouldn't just make the playoffs, they would likely do very well in the playoffs.
I don't want to see the Bobcats lose 60 games again in 2013-14. But if we don't get a top 3 pick, they'd be wise to use that cap space to chase a superstar like LeBron or Melo.
Call me an optimist. But I think we're going to strike gold in 2014.
