That's what Portland may have to pay to keep him

I'd like a chance at Oden on the cheap, but that looks unlikely looking at those numbers that the Blazers are contemplating.

No way I would touch that. 82 games played over 4 years and still get 10 million per? Crazy risk for any team willing to pay that.
I have followed Portland a lot in the last 2 months and a couple observations.
1) They will be a top 4 seed in the west next year, no problem
2) They will match any offer south of $10M per year for Oden, so our involvement would just push up what they end up paying
3) Their interactive media department makes me jealous. Every game day they have online webcasts (up to 4) where the fans can call, text or communicate via live chat with different people/players throughout the organization. It comes with some of the same rules (no cursing, etc) that moderated chats typically come with, but would be a huge information source from behind the scenes. Usually we have to rely on bonnell or ballwhore to get that close to the team on a daily basis. Two of the shows would be the same as if Matt Rochinski of the Bobcats-he does all the locker-room interviews hosted a show. The second would be done with the TV/Radio commentators. Most shows are an hour long per game day, and include a variety of special guests (including players).
The post-game show called sportslandia is done by two ultra-bloggers that webcast their show from the Rose Garden for home games or from local bars on away games. Hopefully the Cats will improve, so ticket sales/sponsors improve so they have more money in the budget to expand their fan base in similar ways.
I wouldn't touch Oden with a twelve foot ....................
pause.
Portland, or rather Cho, is fucking NUTS even contemplating paying Oden that type of money.
QO should be the target here.
Wouldn't mind Oden tbh, but not with that money. I feel sorry for the guy, really do. He works hard to get his body ready, then his body fails on him again. I don't know how many countless hours he put in rehab, but after having a stint of injury myself, I really do feel sympathetic for him. I wish him all the best in his recovery, and hopefully he can do what so many of us dream of doing, playing in the NBA.
he needs to go to the suns where they have the magic gummiberry juice
