Is Kemba Walker the best Point Guard the bobcats have ever had?

I was looking up some stats and comparing players time spent in Charlotte. I found per game averages for players careers with the Bobcats. The top 4 point guards at this point in our history are in order, Felton, Walker, Knight, Augustin. This was based on PPG and APG

I stumbled across these stats when comparing Felton/Kemba

For Kemba

27.212.13.54.4

the stats are mpg, ppg, rpg, and apg

For Felton
34.913.33.46.4

I know it's only been one season and it was a horrible season with not so great talent surrounding Kemba but look at his stats.

He played almost 8 less minutes than Felton averaged for his career here and nearly equaled his scoring output a game, topped his rebounds per game, and came up 2 assists short of Felton's average. If Kemba was to average the same amount of minutes he'd get those 2 extra assists/gm(maybe not last year because of our horrible shooting and inability to score).

I know there's been alot of questions about whether or not he can be our point guard of the future or if he even is a point guard. He shot horrible last year, almost worst in the league for a starter but he was only a rookie. I think he has a chance to be the best point guard we've ever had. DJ only averaged 10 and 4 in his time here.

Brevin Knight averaged 10.8 and 8 fwiw.

I'm interested in seeing what type of numbers Kemba can put up with actual talent around him, i think with mkg running the break with him he'll see more assists this season. I don't know how many minutes Sessions will get and how that will be divided up but I think Kemba is our guy and can provide even better production than Felton did here.

Kemba Walker is a better player than most pundits will ever give him credit for since he doesn't have great size. Despite having a rookie campaign in which he struggled to get consistent minutes behind D.J. Augustin and being marred by a low shooting percentage, many are quick to write off the fact that Walker led the Bobcats in PER, which is the best way to statistically add up which players contributed the most on a nightly basis. The modern day scout & critic will rave over length and body build more than they would actual results and production. For instance, if I were to tell you that Walker played just as efficiently or maybe better in his rookie season than say a Jrue Holiday did in any of his 3 seasons as the starting PG for the 76ers, you wouldn't believe me until you went to review the statistics. Playing on a decent team has a way of masking mistakes and making players on teams outside of the Bobcats organization seem more fit for the job. It's too early to say if Walker is the best PG the Bobcats ever had, but he easily can be if given the opportunity to do so without trying to replace him with the next proven backup PG that come out of free agency.

I think Kemba shouldn't be written off. Jrue Holiday didn't make leaps until his 3rd yr. How long was it before Kyle Lowry put up numbers?

I didn't check per 36 averages but aside from Kemba's poor shooting percentage last season, he still found ways to score and did a good job getting others involved. I mean how many rookies in the last 5 years have gotten a triple double their rookie season?(Curry comes to mind recently)

We're so used to guys we draft failing it's as if we write them off too soon. We have tons of cap and potentially 3 first round picks in one of the next 2 drafts. Surround Kemba with talent all around and I think his numbers will continue to get better.

my opinion is it is felton and it isn't even close. until kemba can even sometimes hit the roll man on a p&r it will remain not close.

I agree with this as well. I hope Kemba can surpass him, but Felton's ability to make the pass was very undervalued by most when he was here. Add in his D (for the most part) and Kemba has a good ways to go.

He'll get there though.

Skinny Felton was a good PG. When he went all Sean May on everyone he lost a step and had to relay on that crappy three of his ;p
Kemba should be able to keep in better shape and therefore have a longer and higher peak. Mainly because I think they both have similar BBIQs.

I wish I had Kemba hype.
