The Official Rookie Discussion Thread

Dash ..who said anything about making the playoffs year after year and getting knocked out in the 1st and 2nd round every year???..i am saying that if we make the playoffs as an 8 seed this year would be great...gives our young guys experience...then hope Portland also makes playoffs so we have 2 picks and can package them for a stud( but even if we only have our pick that is fine also ) and then we add a big time free agent big man via a signing r o a sign and trade....then the following year we make it to the 2nd round and give our guys another year of experience and chemistry...then we will def have 2 picks that year and a few mill to spend and the mid level...and we will prob be a piece or 2 away from being a contender in the east...and so on...u get my drift

the front office didnt bring in Sessions / Gordon and Haywood too early....MJ is running a business and had to put a decent product on the floor in order to keep fans coming and keep season ticket sales high..not to mention that just the the NFL the NBA has a salary cap floor....we have to spend a certain amount of $$and i think we spend it wisely

Lastly ...your theory about getting a superstar through the draft...with the exception of MKG and Kemba ( who arent superstars) how much success have we had in the draft in our 8-9 year history....not much...i know Cho is in charge now....but these days a superstar being available via draft are very slim..there r only a handful of superstar in the entire league anyway...our closest chance was maybe A Davis this year and we missed out on him....so if you are cool with another 8 or 9 years of sucking and hoping we get the right slot in the draft and then ending up with a superstar then to me you are delusional

No offense to you but not wanting your team to play hard and look good while winning some games is just crazy to me.... waiting around hoping we get a superstar ( which is really lots and lots of luck ) is just ridiculous...we already have alot of young guys ( 1 of the youngest teams in NBA )..and pieced them together with some good vets who are also fairly young ...we have something really special going on right now and with the addition of a big time vet PF or Center and some experience we could really be a contender in the soft East

Pretty sure we lose our pick to Chicago if we make the playoffs this year

If we make the playoffs this year it would be a disaster. It would screw us from getting a good player in the draft. No one is gonna wanna take two lower picks/ average players and pass up a franchise player. Get real. No big time free agents are coming to Charlotte anytime soon. If we are making the playoffs we will never get that super star piece that puts us over the hump.

How many top 3 draft picks have we even had?!? You have to be picking 1,2, or 3 to generally get a superstar and even then its no guarantee because those types of players are not in every draft. There is great players in every draft that can make a team better. The 2014 draft is gonna be loaded! If you think we are gonna become a title contender without landing mutiple studs in draft than your delusional.

Sorry but I like to think in the long term, what is best for the team. The only thing I care about is seeing Kemba, MKG, and Biz develop over the next few years and adding some serious talent through the draft.

People are living in a fantasy world if you think we will be competing with the super teams with getting that kind of talent ourselves.

You are living in a fantasy land if you think the only way to compete is to lose constatnly till we get a "SUPERSTAR". We have quality young talent. We need to "DEVELOP" these players into "QUALITY" player. We cant wait till the draft to get one. We are much better then expect and it was because we are developing the talent.

I forgot, we are the Bobcats and you are Swedd so lets stick to the losers mentality. Oh I can say fuck that, lets win as much as possible and see how good we can become. Kemba, JT, MKG, Mully, Biz are still far from developed. These guys can get ALOT better. Im not saying we are going to make a run for the title this year but its a step in the right direction. How do you expect players to learn how to close out games either by holding a lead or coming from behind if you just want the team to lose.

Did you miss the whole "Change the culture" thing they campaigned all offseason?

i will say it once again.....we have obviously tried to draft a superstar in 8 drafts and had zero success...i dont have any interest in tanking so we can get a high pick only to keep trying again for 8 more years....

To say that we can develop players while having a losing mentality is ridiculous....look at the Panthers....that team is stuck in a loser mentality...we dont play to win but to not lose....and the fans and players expect to lose when the game is on the line....The Bobcats do not need that same mentality....as u can see it is causing major backlash in Charlotte toward the Panthers and fans are ready to just give up bc they are sick of it...if u dont think Bobcat fans are already sick of it ur crazy and after we try 8 more years for a superstar and more then likely fail that they wont have totally given up by then....if u cant see this then i dont know what to tell u ....

We have potential stars and we can draft more and sign more...but as for superstars there are prob 8-10 in the entire league....there are 30 teams in the NBA so this just doesnt add up ( and some of those 8-10 superstars play on the same team..decresing the odds )....every team that doesnt have a superstar is looking for 1...its just not as easy as tanking and getting a top 3 pick every year

Swedd, you're underestimating the importance of winning on the development of our youngsters. If we got off to a miserable start such as the Wiz, coming off the heels of last year, we could easily lose Kemba and Mullens and MKG for that matter who is accustomed to winning at every level. This has been the perfect start to the season as they're all getting a taste of winning, trusting in themselves, each other, and their new coach. These are all things that will do wonders long-term and wouldn't happen without winning, specifically winning early.

Rest assured, the losses will come and we'll be lottery bound but this start is just what the players, the franchise and we as fans needed.

I can't believe people liked this post.. Anyway players don't come into the league being superstars bro, players develop along the years if your a bad team or a good team.
