League Pass is not gonna work for anyone living in North Carolina (right?), unless you get the broadband and use a VPN or proxy server (basically making your IP address seem like it's coming from somewhere else, say Alaska), and even then you'll really only be able to watch it on your computer, not to mention all the hassle/illegality involved with that.
you guys having trouble, have you tried tweeting Steve Martin (@bobcatsmartin)? he says to tweet him your zip code and what kind of troubles you are having. he seems committed to helping people get this situation fixed. (although i just browsed through and he keeps suggesting try League Pass, hmmmm, not that helpful Steve).
Looks like the Bobcats finally gave up on the upstate SC area. I can now watch through nba league pass without any blackout. Charter doesn't offer it but I bought the broadband version and can watch the Bobcats in HD through my Xbox.
part of me wants to call direct tv and ask why i got the SD broadcast during the league pass trial and not now, when it should have either a) been subject to local blackout during the trial if it was not picked up by direct tv in the triangle or b) we should still be getting it because the rights were picked up, but i know exactly how it will go.
it will be a 90 minute ordeal, i will have to explain the whole inner/outer radius thing to the operator 3 times after they check the website (the same website i can check) and tell me they are the local market and i should have them on foxsports south on channel 650. then if and when they finally get the inner/outer market thing, they will say they aren't sure why but they will pass the info on and hopefully they can resolve the situation.
i nominate proud to do this.
alas, i will tweet steve martin. i can muster 140 characters.
Charter's the worst. I'm in upstate SC also and switched to AT&T Uverse who carries the Bobcats games in HD. I got tired of Charter's runaround about why they wouldn't pick the games up, even when they pick up all the Hurricanes games and Raleigh is much farther from us than Charlotte.
LOL, thanks, but I pass the torch back to you my good friend, lol... I have my younger two kids at home with me during business hours and it doesn't make for a good formula in looking for resolutions on the phone, lol.
I really want to know what's going on though... I was thinking the same thing as you Chef... It doesn't add up man. Either we should still be getting it now, or we shouldn't have been able to see it during free preview either. It's BS. And I don't know the exact numbers on the radius thing and such. I hope we get it worked out someway within the next few weeks somehow for all the bragging the Bobcats did about expanding the television coverage.
yup we shall see. was very surprised to have a twitter conversation with him. seems like a nice guy to take time for a random fan tweet.
