Hornets to change name 2013-2014 season

I could see maybe like "Lets go birds"! "Lets go pels"! ? "Fear the Bird/beak"? idk
But before I came here I thought I was the only one who didnt think it was a complete poop name...I would think it is to appeal not only to the greater Louisiana area as well as the Gulf Coast in general (Post Katrina Saints style) Rather than choose a NOLA centric name.

I am, and always will be a diehard Bobcats fan.But something about the Hornets at the Hive as a youngster....I admit im a sucker for the nostalgia....But the number 1 reason I support the "Hornets" Rebrand is because I would list NBA Basketball in Charlotte as one of the most important things in the world to me(sad i know) And i feel the Hornets name provides the best template for sustainability in our market.

Id really like to see how they handle the "History" I do not want Nola records.(wouldent happen i know)

Funny thing, seems like more and more we are following a similar path as the Thunder. They found their stars thru the draft and had a name change too early in the new Thunder history.

Different franchises altogether, the name is inconsequential

that is weird tho.. dell curry is the new orleans hornets current leader in career games played... he will soon be the career leader for the new orleans pelicans in games played... the charlotte hornets will exist again but lj, mourning, muggsy, or curry will have nothing to do with the history

Michael Jordan's jersey is retired by Miami Heat. I don't care who is the all time leader in a specific stat.

I do not believe a teams name has ever been "Brought back" to the city after being in use in another town before.... Should be interesting.:g:

When you think of it in terms of franchises instead of team names it makes more sense.

Dell is Franchise X's all-time leader in points

X is obviously variable to whatever name they have, but doesn't change the more important factor. The franchise.
