My rep just said it comes out tomorrow.

I just got an email from Harris and took the survey. It was basically just personal questions. no mention of sports at all. Age, sex, income, yada yada yada.
Not sure if thats the same survey I was getting excited about. but I took it, and no mention of Hornets.
Pelicans isn't all that bad, when you really look at some of the names around the league. You have the New York Pants, the Toronto franchise got its nickname from a Spielberg movie, and there's the Wizards and the actual act of Magic. There's the concept of warmth and the net that hangs from the rim. There's the Jazz in Utah and a coastal city named after inland lakes (or a river/Great Lakes tanker, depending on who you believe), which are the two real-life equivalents to the Flint Tropics. There's also the sound lightning makes and metal ore. A state bird isn't so ridiculous in that light.
If I were Jordan, I'd tell the "Bring Back the Buzz" crew that if they want a rebrand so bad, they can pay for it. That would shut them up pretty quick.
FWIW, I would actually like the Hornets name back. However, I would not be the slightest bit upset if it stayed the Bobcats permanently. I cheer for my team. The name doesn't make a difference to me. For all I care, they could be the Charlotte Pretty Pink Ponies and I'd still cheer them on.
That's basically what MJ is doing.. If the survey(s) indicate the name change creates enough incremental revenue that he actually makes more money than the Bobcats brand then the name will change, if it doesn't look like it then we will continue to be the Bobcats.
Sounds like most people have more of a problem with Bring Back The Buzz than they do the Hornets name.

I showed this before...this logo would be so corny, but in such an awesome way (like Army of Darkness as a movie). Won't happen since they want yellow and red.
I just wanted to chime in on this. Just to address something someone said earlier: Our situation is not the same as Seattle and OKC. Seattle has the rights to the Sonics name, colors, and history. That was in the deal they made with the NBA. It will be like they never left when they come back. I think the Kings history will simply die and exist only in NBA record books. I also can see a scenario where we are allowed to use "Charlotte Hornets" records. Meaning that they would exist before and after anything with New Orleans happened. And we would probably just fold the Bobcats numbers in with that. Benson wants them to have their own identity and Stern is a big backer of the Hornets name in Charlotte, so i think a compromise can be reached. Either way, i'm sure the NBA sees a great marketing opportunity to roll the Seattle Supersonics and Charlotte Hornets back out in the same year. I totally expect this to go down in the off season.
No, it wasn't the Pretty Pink Ponies, I thought Ziggy already started the movement for the Charlotte Fruit Booty Lady Like Unicorns.
When is the big swarm the arena event for that? Or would it be poke the arena? Tickle the arena?
