I'm currently lusting after either the Nexus 10 or the 10 inch Samsung Galaxy Note.
Help swing my decision one way or the other... Or recommend something different if you think there is a better tablet out there.

Ziggy it depends on how you intend to use it I think. I recently picked up a Nexus 10 to watch videos mostly. It's also made by Samsung and is pretty much the state of the art at the moment.
The display is to die for. If there's a problem it could be that's its too good. Non HD video suffers.
NBA Gametime for Tablets and League Pass aren't functional yet for Jelly Bean; which has me totally pissed since that's like a main reason I bought it. (Correction - Gametime works; LP doesn't)
HBO GO and Netflix are awesome tho.
I don't play games at all; but would definitely go Nexus if I did.
For general productivity I doubt it matters; both units are Jelly Bean.
Both units have a wide format display and aspect ratio which is great for video and gaming but a bit unwieldy for browsing and reading. 4:3 units are way more comfortable to hold.
late to this and I'm not going to offer any help but...
I got the Sony Tablet a few months ago and I love it. If they come out with a new version anytime soon, would highly recommend it. Only one with an IR remote so I can pretty much control anything in my house from my tablet. TV, DVR, Bluray, Blinds and fans. pretty cool. Like I said, no help because there are newer better tablets available, but this one is cheap now and still highly functional.
I use mine for everything now. It is my home computer, the only thing it won't do for me is Cad/Sketchup kind of stuff, but that just gives me an excuse not to work when I'm home.
Mainly it's for web use obviously, but with the IR function on mine... I pretty much have it with me everywhere in the house. Sure I can get up and turn the fan off or close my own blinds... but I look so much cooler when I do it from my seat.
I had an iPad before and would love to have one again if I had the money.
I'm graduating soon but it is incredibly useful for taking notes and reading e-versions of school books. Other than that, gaming is huge on tablets nowadays. I used it to get on the internet whenever I was at home instead of needing to lug my big ass laptop around. Great for watching Netflix or other videos while out and about. Get a 4G version and you have a mobile computer and email catcher. Tons of benefits
Tv options are great too. Fellow season ticket holder brings his ipad to games and has other games playing live.
Yeah a lot of people use League Pass Mobile (or something?) to watch a game on the tablet and one on TV
NBA Gametime for Tablets just updated to play League Pass Broadband. WhooHoo! Unfortunately, so far on the Nexus 10's hi res screen it's looking somewhat pixelated :(
My only regret at the moment is I'm beginning to think the 7" screen form factor of the Nexus 7 or IPad Mini would have been more useful. The Nexus 10 really is a bit large to handle. It feels more like a laptop to me only without the keyboard and with apps.
I tend to use mine mainly for Netflix or HBOGO; but new games appear to be appearing for it with regularity. Both android and ipad tablets are quite versatile and can be used pretty much as far as your ingenuity and needs can take them. Again tho; the Nexus 10 is new, somewhat large and very hi-res - which while being technologically way cool - in reality also leaves quite a few frustrations.
We have a new addition to the house of ziggy.
We have a brand new 10 inch Google Nexus tablet. After I've had a chance to work with it for a few days, I'll let you guys know what I think.
One note though - The screen is damned pretty.
