Hey, Kemba's the whole reason I'm following the Bobcats, but there are two things that are undeniably true: Kemba's primarily a scoring point guard, and Kemba's not a franchise-level offensive talent. I honestly think the guy could win a sixth man of the year award down the line, but if Charlotte wants to be a playoff squad in a few years they're going to need to get better offensive talent, and Kemba's gonna have to be able to at least defer to those players. If he's going to truly be an elite point guard, he's going to have to make these theoretical players better while also getting his own offense. As it is, he only does one of those things.

I'm not too far away from you guys on that opinion. Kemba isn't efficient enough to be a featured scorer on a great team, but I'm not sure if he has the mentality to defer to a truly great scorer we sorely need. Won't be able to tell how good he really is until he gets more talent around him because I have to think he'd be fine deferring but I fear he might be better suited as a big fish in a small pond with that small pond being a second unit or a bad teamQuote:

There's nothing wrong with saying that for a guy to be as successful as possible he may be best served playing to his strengths off the bench instead of trying to be a guy he's not. Kemba's perfectly adequate if you need someone to fill the basket up for stretches, especially against second-string talent. However, Charlotte needs a serious upgrade on the offensive side of the court, and Kemba can't be taking the ball away from franchise scorers to dribble for 16 seconds before dumping it off.Quote:

Last year he was a guy who looked lost and had a horrible FG % and did a horrible job of running the team and now this year he has become our go to guy offensively and is doing a wonderful job running the team ..his FG % is up and his points per game are up drastically ..he is doing a great job of protecting the ball and has become really aggressive on the defensive end which is clear by him ranking 5th or 6th in the league in steals..Overall I feel like in this short time that he has proven that he is our PG of the future ..he has alot of heart and wants to be great and he gives 100% everytime he is on the floor ..
Of course he isn't all the way there yet and has some things he needs to improve but as a 2nd year player at arguably the hardest position in the NBA , I think he has don't a great job so far ..I not only see him as our PG for the next 6-8 years but I see him as a guy who can become a top 10 PG in this league ..he is already averaging 17 points 6 assists 4 rbds and close to 3 steals ..I don't think it's crazy to think that he be that PG who gives us close to 20 a game along with 7-8 assists and of course the rbds and steals ...he does need to improve on distributing the ball but it's as if he is horrible at it ..he does a pretty good job and his assists per game are about the same as Augustine and Feltons were with us ..his improvement and his game is 1 of the main reasons we are improved this year and why we have become so exciting to watch
this is exactly why i am waiting on a final judgement. it would be unfair to do so until he has a good supporting cast with at least one great scorer. i just hope the front office never makes the mistake of not taking a great pg in the future by drafting "need" over "bpa"Quote:

I think one thing we have to remember when evaluating players is that we don't need a top 10 guy at each position to be successful. We typically compare our guys to the best players in the game, putting them in a position where they're likely to come up short. I'd be content if Kemba was a top 15, top 10 type point guard, especially in this day of fantastic point guards across the league.
That being said, if he's not a top 5-6 point guard, we will definitely need one if not two top 5 players at their position in all likelyhood in order to be successful. MKG definitely looks like a top 5 player, but we need another top scorer, preferably one who can also pass and make plays.
I'm not worried about Kemba. There are reasons to criticize him, but he's coming along fairly nicely and leading a VERY young team. He's being asked to play the way he's playing. He should be fine in the long haul, and we'd be much better served looking at our other positions, save SF, to add talent. To me, Kemba is good enough that, at this point, the only reason you'd be looking to make a change is if you had a clear blue-chip all-star level point guard available to you or some serious talent coming back in a trade.
