On the serious side, I'm happy to have him here for what he cost us. Hopefully he continues to develop and becomes a spark off the bench after we do some more work on this overhaul.
Byron Mullens is arguably the worst defensive player in the league.
I like Mullens as a future big coming off the bench. i do hope he works on his post game during the offseason. he has range but he's not consistent from the outside. He's also a little soft in the post.
like someone said, he just 23 with less than 2 season under his belt. give him time. He'll be a better player next year, and the next after that.
Mullens is the white Alexis Ajinca
Lets see, he shoots a low percentage from the field and the three point line but takes a ton of jumpers. For a guard his percentages would be bad, for a big man they are terrible. In addition he almost never gets to the foul line because he won't try to establish his game in the paint. His defense is horrible. Mullens is below average at blocking shots and doesn't move his feet well. I think he would look a lot better as a role player on a good team like a chris anderson situation. With us he still looks like one of the worst players in the league, the only think to feel good about is his defensive rebounding has gotten a bit better lately.
Please do not over pay.
I just think he's a little slow-brained and that appears in poor reflexes and lapses in focus.
I think all the work he's been doing in the post has perhaps killed his long range shooting touch; maybe he can't do both.
But he's definitely excellent in spurts when his confidence runs high and his mind is sharply into a game.
Just can't depend on it to necessarily happen when you need it; which is a mark of greater players.
