In the spirit of the game tonight...
Parker all day.
paul all day every day.
Except yesterday.
If we're talking their matchup last night: Parker
If we're talking overall: Paul, easily
If we're talking any day of the week, any game of the year, any team... the answer is Parker.
Chris Paul hasn't won dick his whole career. Flashy passes don't win games.
I think Parker is one of the most underrated PGs we've had for the last decade. He's not as flashy, so he never got onto people's top current lists, but he's damn effective and consistent as hell.
That said, he's had Duncan, Popovich, Ginobili, and a steady stable of veterans around him to help him grown into his role. Paul has always been the best player on teams and never had to defer. His leadership is probably overrated by everyone though, as he has always led teams to "good," but never "great."
But switch Parker with Paul, then Parker never wins a championship, and Paul probably has 4 or 5 now himself.
Yeah I have Parker as my #2 PG in the world right now, so it's not to knock on him. Chris Paul is just the best, most all-around talented floor general currently playing basketball.
Just like I think LeBron is easily the best SF (and player) in the world. But that doesn't mean Durant is chopped liver
Parker is more like Brady: multiple rings, but takes orders from the sidelines; CP is more like Manning: completely runs the show with less to work with and fewer rings. Brady would not do well under Dungy and Manning would not do well under Bellichick. The same goes for CP under Pop and Parker under Vinny. You can't have two people between coach and lead player who want to call the shots or two people who look to someone else for the gameplan.
