McRoberts and Warrick just so happen to share the same agent as Orlando's best player (Nik Vucevic), so it's more than likely that Rob Hennigan just did BDA a small favor to keep the relationship friendly with an eye toward having to negotiate a big extension for Nik next summer. He swaps one guy who wasn't going to play for another, McRoberts gets the chance to play himself out of the minimum contract he was staring down this summer (netting BDA a bigger payday) and Warrick gets the buyout he was looking for to focus on training for summer workouts.
I haven't read all of this, but I believe it's quite possible that he was legitimately terrible in Orlando and also pretty good playing for us.
One of the unfortunate things about being a bad team is there's always the question of whether a player is good or just putting up numbers filling a void. That being said, I can believe that McRoberts was motivated to play better and built chemistry with the guys around him in a way that he didn't do elsewhere.
I'm glad Cho has to evaluate the guy and determine an appropriate number. I think he's worth having around, but I don't want to pay him a lot.
gotta be careful not to repeat previous mistakes. mcbob represents the final year of what was a terrible contract for matt carroll that seemed like we gave out decades ago. we got matt for free, he gave us some great performances and the team decided to lock him up. in the end we found out theres a reason Matt Carroll was in the D league and i dont know if i want to make a similar mistake on McBob and end up realizing there was a reason he was on the end of the bench in orlando and has never stuck around on a team
id pay him role players money / good bench guy money. nothing more nothing less.
Yeah got to be really careful how much we pay for him.
However we have Cho running the ship now, he would happily let McBob leave if he thought he was being overpaid.
Good glue guy , good team player , . He will be offered a contract instead of Mully . Mc Bob is a good chemristy guy on a bad team who doesn't have any bigs. My guess is about 3.5 for about two years . And will be well worth that to us while rebuilding.
Better than Mullen's is all I have to say.
