My coaching prediction - Sam Mitchell
I hope this doesn't happen. I REEEEEEALLY hope this doesn't happen... But wouldn't this fit our tightwad penny pinching beloved owner's pattern of spending as little money as possible? Toronto doesn't want Sam and its pretty well known that he won't make it past this season, plus him and Bernie are tight. Hes talked up Sam Mitchell and how much respect he has for him on a number of occasions. Hes talked him up even though hes never been succesful anywhere that hes coached. At the end of the season Bernie moves upstairs and hires another loser coach that won't cost Bob Johnson much money.
I hope it doesn't happen, but thats my prediction.

Michael....HELP!!!!!1
We're in Kansas City Royals hell. We're in Golden state/clippers/mavs 90's hell.
Re: My coaching prediction - Sam Mitchell
Replacing our current coach that sucks with a buddy of his that sucks would be too much for me to mentally handle... The only thing worse than this scenario would be replacing our coach that sucks with his inexperienced son that sucks. :-\
If either of those scenarios played out, then not even Greg Oden could save this franchise.

IT could be worse. We could have Isaiah Thomas.
Re: My coaching prediction - Sam Mitchell
LOL Isaiah Thomas....yup that would be worse. :D ...and MJ just loves Isaiah too heh
Re: My coaching prediction - Sam Mitchell
I still think our next coach will be Larry Brown. Not all that happy about it but it would be better than sam.
Re: My coaching prediction - Sam Mitchell
Have you guy's actually seen Mitchell coach?
He's actaually a really solid coach. Now that he finally has some talent on his roster and that bone head Babcock is gone he's doing great things. His conversion out of time outs is solid, his roataions sound. The Raps are a very similar team to us:
TJ Ford = Felts
Parker = Ammo
Jones = Crash
Rasho = EO50
Garbo = McMay
MoPete = The Hammer
Bargs = Primoz
the only difference is they have Bosh but if we can pick up Durant in the draft there is a match there too.
My point is, Mitchell is getting the best out of a pretty lack luster squad. He's using TJ really, really well and knows what his players strenghts and weakness's are.
In a perfect world I'd like to have Billy Donovan (head coach of the Gators) or Marc Iavaroni (ass at for the Suns) here but we could do a whole hell of a lot worse than Sam Mitchell.
If Mitchell did happen to come (him coming here next year was something that I 1st put forward over a year ago) it would be sweet if he brought Alex English with him.
Then we would actually have a competant assistant coach rather than the scubs we have now

I think a lot of the Raptors "success" this year is attributed to Colangelo and his ability to build his team to fit the coach's scheme, rather than Mitchell's coaching ability.

While I'll agree that it takes a GM like Colangelo to have the vision and the balls to put a team together like he does, you'd have to agree that they don't coach themselves.
Someone still has to come up with the plays, teach them in a way that the guys learn them, have the respect of the locker and enforce the execution along with the game plans.
Those things don't just happen by themself.
Sam Mitchell does a pretty good job. The ball movement for the Raps (epsecially considering Bosh has been out for so long) is really, really good. They'd run rings around us, and considering the rosters are so similar the reason would be because they are better coached.
