Re: Bobcats Management Trio
I'm not surprised that he brought some of his buddies into the organaization, but I AM surprised that he hasn't hired his #1 running buddy Charles Oakley into the organization to serve some role.
Re: Bobcats Management Trio
Jordan's preferences up to now are disappointing to me. As you said, he is bringing his buddies, I suspect that Higgins is the best option. He is the guy who and Jordan drafted Kwame with 1st pick together.
OK, better not to talk about management until July 1.
Re: Bobcats Management Trio
You know, I never even knew that Higgins was GM of the GSW's. I always thought it was Mullin!!
MJ's latest executive moves smacks of surrounding himself of "yes men" to me, but I could be very wrong. Maybe all of his "buddies" are the best men for the jobs?
Of course, if you are putting lines through people and not even considering them because you don't have a past with them I have to wonder how impartial you can be??
Re: Bobcats Management Trio
i didnt know he was the GM in Golden State either.
im hoping its a situation where it was, Jordan had 5 or 6 good candidates, all of them with their own little positives... but when it came down to it, he went with Vincent and Higgins, because he was close to them and thought it would make for a good working relationship. thats my hope at least. i mean if all the candiadets were even, i wouldnt blame him for pickin his friends... but if his skippin talent for buddies, then its gonna be a problem.
Re: Bobcats Management Trio
A good working relationship is helpful, and I've heard some bad things about Higgins in the past, with some good things of more recent (remember that deal that netted Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington?). Their team makeup is pretty good.
As GM he's drafted:
Andris Biedrins
Ike Diogu
Monta Ellis
Patrick O'Bryant
Kosta Perovic
Of course, Chris Mullin basically ran things there, as I expect Bernie to do here as well. I think that's part of the reason he's coming over as GM here - he knows who is in charge and stays quiet. I expect the same here.

Good stuff Bumpus.
Can you elaborate on the "bad stuff"?
According to the article in the Observer this morning Jordan came in last year saying he wanted Higgens...so it looks like there was no other candidates.
If Higgens is the man behind finding all those gems in the 2nd round I'd be ecstatic...but I'm leaning toward what Bumpus said: He'll do what he's told and keep his mout shut.
Re: Bobcats Management Trio
Three now becomes four . The Charlotte news paper reported thet Jordon is now talking to best frind Buzz Peaterson about becoming a top scout for the cats.

Some of the bad stuff: His entire time as assistant GM in Washington, and only this year the Warriors became good. THe bad stuff mainly stems from his lack of having made very few large decisions.
Re: Bobcats Management Trio
Jordan is doing what every other pro sports exec does, hire his friends or people that are referred by his friends. I dont know why he's being singled out for it.
