And they say MJ doesn't know what he is doing. You basically get gasol for cash and picks. The players they got don't match up to gasol in any fashion pts, rebounds, and min. Put the three players stats together and he beats them by himself. Picture Kobe when Bynum comes back  I have fisher, kobe, odum, gasol and bynum. What was the griz thinking :g:
Yeah, I've been reading that the owner was trying to make the franchise more fiscally attractive to sell. Those of you that caught the Memphis game on TV know that place looked deserted...like the last playoff run by the Hornets in Charlotte. I remember reading last year that they were in the red by 10s of millions.
It was still whacked even from that perspective; why in the world didn't they force LA to take Cardinal?
You have to feel for the Memphis fans...they're the ones who got the biggest shaft. And then the rest of us, because that team is now going to be very tough to beat.
Not only did they get rid of Gasol, they also dished out Stromile Swift and Damon Stoudamire.
They were a Rudy Gay away from giving all of their best players today.
Oh, and they have Kwame now. Which means not only did they get rid of talent, they somehow went in the negative talent wise. Insufficient talent funds.
Read about this today and was shocked by what Memphis got in return. All I had to read was "Kwame Brown" and I started laughing. This really does suck for all non-Lakers fans, though.
LMAO at Odom or Bynum not being in the deal on Memphis end.
I don't really mind it either way. Memphis is now committing to playing young players, building through the lottery, and maybe signing a FA next year. They'll have good financial flexibility and a lot of young pieces to trade.
Memphis's marquee talent is now Rudy Gay, who appears to be ready to at least impress the fans a few times a game. Memphis will likely get a top 3 pick this year and have lots of pieces to trade. They could retool by as early as next year.
They definitely could have gotten more, but I guess they decided it's not worth paying the contracts of good players who aren't taking the team anywhere. They can be terrible, load up on young talent, sell the team, and move on with a fresh and clean slate.
and it really helps the owner sell the team
The Lakers gave up a lot with 2 draft picks, but when Bynum returns they will be absolutely fierce at the 2 thru 5 spots. Kobe/Odom/Gasol/Bynum.
I could easily see that team making it out of the West.
