The thing for me is that Larry Brown wants him doing it, else he'd stop him from taking the shots as well as not sub him in with just a few seconds left.
Not saying I wouldn't like to see some set plays...but ILBIT.

I think Ray is having a great year and I think he will get better. I just don't want us to get back in the dribbling going nowhere act. He has been running the offense well but last night I saw a little too much dribbling on at least 2-3 offensive sets. I know Larry will get his butt in gear. I like Raymond because he is warrior and he loves to play basketball and of course he does not mind taking that last shot. I was very surprised to know that he wasn't as bad statistically in last second shots as I thought. Sometimes folks can be harsh on these boards. I thought he was the pits based on the way some people talk about him wanting to be the hero. Thanks for the information.
Sometimes possibly...depends on what you're talking about. At the end of the half (think it was then) Felton passed off to Rad (think it was him!) but he missed the shot; Felton got the O board and put it back in.
I've also seen him give it to Boris at least twice in those situations so he could try and create...and both times ended badly.
Most likely LB trusts Felton to do the best he can with what the situation gives him. I have mixed feelings about that (ORL makes 2 games now where I thought he should have called a time out but didn't)...but again, I trust LB so much that I'm not going to nitpick him on this.
One thing is obvious tho; LB absolutely wants Felton in during those situations. Didn't he sub him in on a last possession yesterday?
when you say sub 40% you mean overall in his career? or in game winning decisions?
if you look at the list some of the big names like Lebron (34%), Carter (31%), Bryant (25%)..it's not that terrible
One more thing to consider. LB in several instances doesn't call a time out when we are down or tied..with a few seconds to go. Thus, somebody inbounds the pass to Felton who runs down the court and shoots
Is Bell as good as a ball handler to take over at that point ? Diaw may..but is he that quick?
bottom line..in that situation I described Felton is the quickest/better ball handler in the team. In this situation you can't really set a play..and Felton is good enough that he can create his own shot. he is used to running the fast break or sprinting down the court from his UNC days.
DJ would probably rival him...but DJ is rarely in the game at that time so you can't argue this point.
Taking this into consideration, you can say that the argument that Felton tries to play hero constantly is flawed
I think a major problem has been (and hope it stops) leaving him on the floor too long...at some point (hopefully soon) LB has to put DJ in for Ray and let Ray get some rest...secondly...someone has to step up and get open at the end of the game period...Vlady will take the shot but like the Orlando game he had someone hanging all over him...
The primary is Ray needs less minutes (so he can rest) and DJ more/experience having to run the team...just my opinion...
I knew this was coming...I have to bite the bullet on this one. But only because since the allstar break Felton is 4-5 for Hero shots. Now my made up stat of 6-21 turned out to be closer then i thought if your actually stat is right. My only problem still is look at the shots he decides to take. Last second shots are rushed and usually highly defended so i guess i shouldnt expect a high %. Even though he's been lucky lately He still has a bad habit of taking bad shots in those situations.
The problem with "Hero shots" is the other team always knows you have to take them...I'd feel better if we had at least three reasonable options (guys that can create their own shot) on the floor at the end of the game...we just have not appeared to have that (as of yet) so far...I'm hoping it will change...
