Boards and turnovers

Coach thinks we got to address thease problems. Ideas how to address the problems.

With Bell out and and Diaw not getting any boards that hurts . The p/f position has to peoduce boards.

Im saying we play big starting either TC and Nazz or TC and Lexy. Moving Diaw to the shooting guard position . Diaw has passing abilitys and that could help with turn overs.

In my mind Lexy fits well at the four beside TC , With Nazz off the beanch. Diaw works at the two and giving Wallace a rest at the three . With both able to make the switch on the pick .

Felton , DJ, Flip
Diaw, Henderson , Flip
Wallace , Diaw , Brown
Lexy, TC , Diaw
TC , Nazz, Diop
Bell, backs up Diaw when able.
Graham , Vlad, sees little time.

I think thats our best rebounding and ball handling units.

When he's in great shape, playing Diaw at the 2 is a stretch. Being that he's out of shape, I say no chance. Besides, we'd move Wallace over to the 2 before Diaw.

As of now, Henderson is our future at the 2. I'd rather play him and see him develop than play guys out of position and sacrifice depth.

I agree Henderson being our future , But the artical states Boards and ball handling as our biggest problems. Right now our small foward leads the team in boards, What can we do to get more boards out of our biggs . We have to board better . Other Ideas?

Teach Henderson how to box out and get boards?

I don't know. Other than fixing how our guys play and getting healthier, I don't see a way to improve boards without creating significant problems elsewhere. We move Diaw to the SG and we'd be a LOT slower. Plus, with him having to guard the perimeter, would his rebounding ability even play out much?

I think more than anything, we just need our bigs to play better.

I'm trying my best to operate under the "what happens in the preseason, stays in the preseason" mantra, but as you've pointed out there are some troubling issues. Neither of our starting big men, however, have gotten a full preseason in this year. However, I'm thinking they should be fine when the season starts.

Strange things/matchups happen in the preseason. Come Wednesday our preseason starting center, Nazr, will be going up against 2nd string centers and if he plays as well as he has been, he'll do very well.

I currently don't think starting Lexy is the answer. That may change, but I'm hoping it doesn't ever come to that.

TC wasn't in shape, and there's a reason Jemele Hill calls him Mr. Glass. And we all know Boris is the king of double-doubles now in Charlotte. I'm not concerned about that. And once Boris is back in game shape, the TO's will come down a bit, but that's always been an issue and I worry more about that...

Good points.

About the TOs though, the number must come down, obviously, but as a forward, think about how many passes the guy makes (and is asked to make). THEN, consider that a lot of those passes were to Okafor down low. He dropped EVERYBODY's passes.

Once Diaw gets back to game shape (shouldn't take long with the summer he's had) he'll be okay, I think.

Diaw at 6.8 and averaging around four boards a game for his carrer that won't get it for a power foward. Diaw played the two in Atlanta , and with the Suns as well as the three and four.
I wish just boxing out solved the whole problem. Starting Henderson might help some he might average four a game whitch is good for a two guard.

We need to pull down about 45 boards a game , TC when well around 8 at best thats carer high, Diaw has averaged 3.5. Wallace i think can average 7. Felton pulls about 3
Bell about 3 , Thats just 24 boards a game from our starters . That puts 21 a game on our reserves. Will not happen on a consistant basis.
Any thing less than that the team will have too average over 50% shooting to win . We a bad shooting team all so .
This is a problem. We can't sweep it under the rug . Its not going away.
We can increase time for people that board , We might be able to trade for a rebounder.
Your ideas but the team has to board at a better clip.
Turnovers will take care of them self once season starts . DJ , and Felts both have decent handles. Both have been trying things in the preseason . This problem should take care of its self.

Last in scoring, 26th in team rebounding.,

I actually think Boris might actually be able to play the 2 spot but the biggest negative to this is that is would make our depth at the 4 even thinner. I also agree that if we were thinking of doing this, moving Wallace to the 2 and playing Diaw at the 3 would be a better move.

I know that LB said it but we can't lose to much sleep over this preseason. Assuming he is healthy, we haven't even seen a shadow of what Chandler will be for us. Him being healthy alone will go a long way to solving the rebounding issue. Diaw hasn't looked like himself either since he is just coming back from an injury. Boris looked great last year and very good during the summer for France as well. I am not worried at all about Diaw.

As far a Lexy goes, I actually think he is at an acceptable point in his learning curve and that he will be able to give us some productive minutes off the bench this year. While I see where the comment was coming from about him starting at the 4, I do not think he is anywhere near ready for that at this point in his career.

While I am a huge Bell fan, I feel that Murray and Henderson are very capable guys. Henderson is absorbing things like a sponge right now and when Flip has gotten starter minutes in the past, he has looked great. How long is Flip out for anyway? What is the latest update on his injury?

Things are not as bad as they may seem right now. I fully expect for us to get healthy and start to hit our stride within the first 2-3 weeks of the season.
