My hope is that the folk who want to "blow up this team" will let it be...we have the talent just give it a chance...we needed a guy to take the doubles off Crash and Jax is that guy...now we all get to see what this team really can do...and as a side note I really hope Diaw stays hurt...I for one would rather have UPS playing...
I can't believe this is the biggest win in franchise history. I'am so happy to have actually watched it. :clapping:
Tyson looked great on D and everyone was running the floor the team had 16 blocks, but the biggest stat is the nine turnovers.
really glad i went to that game it was DUNK CITY!!!
Whoa
I went to my first game for this season tonite, against the Raps, with a lot of curiousity about this team; most of it the worrying kind of curiousity.
No worries though; at least for the moment. The Bobcats played a phenomenal game.
Game notes:
The Cats were breaking down court with nearly EVERY defensive rebound. It was completely surprising and amazing to watch. And they were finding each other down court. That emphasis led to LOTS of easy baskets. Our team speed was exceptional! Particularly Gerald Wallace and Gerald Henderson. Hendo's speed and hops are really something to see. He got so high on one dunk that he literally flicked it down, two handed through the hoop. Pretty freaking crazy.
There are NBA teams that know how to clog the middle and mitigate Wallace's offensive attack. Toronto isn't one of them. It was clear from the first minutes of the game that this was one in which Crash could take it inside and score at will. The Raptors are big enough inside; but they're offensive, shooting bigs that are very soft on defense. Our whole team attacked them inside.
Chandler started the game off with great intensity and energy. That had to help team morale from the get go. The guy played a good game.
When TC had to sit; our rooks Derek Brown and Gerald Henderson kept the mojo going; streaking up court and flying above the rim.
The system of play tonite seemed to de-emphasize our Point Guards. There simply wasn't much stopping the ball or weaving it around. Plus there were plenty of times that Wallace or Jackson brought the ball up, though most of the times Wallace brought it up, he just took it to the hole. Why not? No one was going to stop him. For the most part, the ball movement was direct and right at the defense. Very efficient against a poor defensive team.
The Raptors were clearly lacking effort tonite and thankfully we took advantage. Toronto was not a team in the mood for a game.
Overall the Bobcats played very entertaining above-the-rim basketball tonight; the kind of bball that's sure to win over many fans; if they can keep it up. Kudos to all the Cats; but especially to Gerald Wallace, for once again showing that you can take over an NBA game when it's there to take; to Stephen Jackson, for not passing to TC!, and fitting in so soon; playing so well and unselfishly; to Gerald Henderson and Derek Brown, welcome to the NBA guys, you're gonna be just fine.
There were big smiles on the players faces at the end of the game and on the head coaches face as well. Maybe this crew is going to be okay after all.
Maybe, just maybe, this was a turn-around.
We have enough gifted athletes (with Jax here now) that we can/should any other team into the court on any given night...I just hope we use this offense rather than the slow down half-court crap we've seen until now...we have the "legs" and we need to use them...
Seriously! It was like a Bobcats highlight show taking place live!!! So many damn nasty dunks...it was just insane. And to get to see my boy Derrick throw down two nasty dunks was the icing on the proverbial cake, especially the breakaway two-handed double clutch reverse after the steal.....I hope I didn't injure the gracious BCP member whom I sat with smacking him around after that dunk .
Of course a big part of it was playing a team on the second night of a back to back and their not being a strong defensive team inside in the first place, but a lot can be taken from this game in the sense that we can RUN; we have the horses to run from starters down to the bench. I just have to give kudos to Larry for letting his horses loose and run the Raptors out of the TWC in historic fashion. I don't know what they finished with, but at one point the Cats had 35 fastbreak points; don't know the record but that has to be close.....that's freakin' ridiculous!!!
What is so great is that this offense outpouring was a result of fantastic defense. Tyson with 6 blocks; Raymond 3 steals; GW 2 and 2; Derrick's long arms of the law with 2 and 2; Nazr with 3 blocks; I think everybody that played had at least one steal or one block. Just great defense; what more can you say?
And yeah, being able to see Larry cutting up with Jack, and the rest of the team laughing was a treat!
This, along with the Pacers win may be a turning point; but then with this being the Bobcats, you never can tell. However, this was one damn fine night to be a Bobcats fan! Thirty-five point wins......I could get used to this
Just got done watching the game on DVR after work and I'm so glad I didn't hear a score leak. That was some serious ballin' and we looked complete tonight. Our starters did their parts, the bench was amazing and Acie wasn't a scratch. Maybe all this team needs is a little practice time with each other for chemistry. If TC could just add some offensive punch, he would be a beast of a center. Henderson and Brown stepped it up big time, Crash blew my mind, and Jackson tore it up too. I too am digging UPS' energy and wondering if we could slowly up his playing time and possibly run him at the 4 on a more permanent basis. Henderson looked like a big time player tonight and should start seeing more time too. He threw down some monster jams and played some stellar D. Great all around game 'Cats!! It's insane what a difference Captain Jack makes to this team.
Damn shame I missed the game, will try to find a game stream or something later.
From the stats line though:
- 9 turnovers...only 9 turnovers.
- TC, being a beast on defence with 6 blocks. That's what we're paying him for, that and 9 rebounds. If he stayed in the game, I'm sure he could have competed for a double double of rebounds/blocks, possibly triple double with points/rebounds/blocks if he could of held down his fouls.
- Hendo and UPS, getting huge minutes. Each with around 20 minutes, that's great for experience. Hendo scoring well also with 15 points and I'm looking forward to what he can produce. UPS as well. Seems that UPS will have a nice steal then a highlight dunk afterwards, and the reverse dunk was sweet.
- Crash was playing like a starving man with a ball going after the christmas chicken (the hoop). Huge game of 31 points and 13 points.
- Mohammed is solid like always. Great backup center to have.
- Good to see Acie get some burn. Not much, but better than nothing
- Great to see a huge win. We can now see what the potential this Bobcats team has.
Lets keep it up Cats!
