Default Diop to the D-League? (An Idea)

This might get shot down immediately by someone rules wise... but I did a quick search and didn't immediately see any restrictions on this.

Fact: We have Desagana Diop thru 2013.
Fact: He has a terrible contract (long, overpaid) that unless packaged in a deal we would surely lose out on talent wise, he ain't goin' anywhere
Fact: While not always a scratch, Diop has played just under 20 minutes in six games this season
Fact: Maybe not right now, but at one point Larry Brown was pretty high on this kid

With that said... why not send Diop down to the D-League? Perhaps getting 25-35 minutes a game down there could be pretty healthy for him. He hasn't received consistent quality gametime minutes since early 2007 and has only played over 25 minutes in games since the start of last season (Thank you, basketball-reference.com)

Diop was a standout at Oak Hill Academy back in the day. I'm guessing hes just never really got a shot to transition to a faster-paced game. At 27, he hasn't completely lost that opportunity yet.

Much like Ajinca, whats the harm in sending him down there?

Of course if we can move the guy... do it in a heartbeat!

There is a restriction but I'm not exactly sure what it is. 3-4 years at most...which means he wouldn't be eligible.

Found it. You're right -- only restricted to 1 and 2 year players. Free agents can sign at any point however, regardless of age/exerience.

My B -- look away people... nothing to see here! Thats why I shouldn't offer shoot from the hip analysis at lunchtime.

Have you ever tried to give someone else your tooth-aches? Never really works because you usually get a larger one back...

maybe we could hire the jackal and he could accidentally be wounded. you know by a sniper bullet to the knee. not only would he come off the roster and books, but we could get some insurance money too. i'm just saying.
