    Default Trade Ideas

Here are a couple of trade I think the Bobcats should possibly consider making on/before Thursday:

Here's a link to the Trade Machine for the first:
    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMa...radeId=ylm4u7g

The result would look something like this:

    Cats
    P - Felton / Robinson
    S - Jackson / Henderson
    S - Wallace / Graham
    P - Lee / Brown
    C - Mohammed / Curry

    Knicks
    P - Duhon / Augustin
    S - McGrady / Hughes
    S - Gallinari / Chandler
    P - Diaw / Jeffries
    C - Chandler / Milicic

    Rockets
    P - Brooks / Lowry
    S - Ariza / Murray
    S - Battier / Harrington
    P - Scola / Landry
    C - Andersen / Hayes

Or if that wouldn't work out between all 3 teams, we could eliminate the Rockets and just do this trade with the Knicks:

We Get - Nate, DLee, Cuttino, & Curry
They Get - DJ, Diaw, & Chandler

I tried this as trade on the TM and it works as well. Any thoughts? Good or bad? Thanks for looking.

    *EDIT*
Worse comes to worse, we could always try to pull this off:

they would absolutely not do the 2nd one. any trades going to new york involve the shedding salary for 2010. diaw and chandler = 26 mil next year.

We are all wishing and hoping for a big impact type of PF but the reality according to the trade checker is that we have nothing of value to give to a team for a PF who will make much of an impact behind Doris. The best we can do is a straight up trade with a team that is willing to take one of our guards for a marginal PF. I like the idea of the Bobcats straight up trading for Tyler Hansbrough. I checked the trade checker and if the Bobcats trade Gerald Henderson to Indiana for Tyler the trade works.

Here is my thinking on this. Gerald has what could be huge upside but because Larry Brown hates rookies he gets no love. On the other hand in Indiana Gerald Henderson would get burn because Indiana has a slim chance of making a playoff run and they would probably be happy to play him. The better to get a lottery pick.

Now although Larry Brown hates rookies and is not much on being patient with them Tyler and players of his experience and skill set are probably the best that the Bobcats can do. Larry would have no choice but to play Psycho T and maybe just maybe it would pay off. The great thing about this trade is that it is not a major risk for either team. As it stands the Bobcats have NO backup PF to spell Doris for ANY minutes and at least with Tyler you get a high energy player who can grab some much needed boards and get some trash points in the low post.

Now I know that the Bobcats have been ridiculed for having too much of a UNC connection but this has little to do with Tyler being a Tar Heel. It has everything to do with getting a guy who is willing to learn and loves the game of basketball beyond the pay. In a world with guys like Boris playing professionally it should be a breath of fresh air to have a guy like Tyler on the team. He may not have as much talent as some of the others but the guy will outplay and outperform a lot of them because he does care.

I realize many of us saw the same thing in AmMo but that guy is too emotionally weak to play through the tough times. I believe Tyler is much stronger mentally and physically and can be a Joakim Noah type player in the next few years. Plus Tyler has a better knack for scoring trash points around the basket.

As far as his being an ex Tar Heel I don't see where that matters considering people were willing to take on Jamison. Yes I know he is better but he is also much older and has earned his stripes. Given a few years with a great teacher like coach Brown and I think Tyler could make a couple All Star appearances in a double digit season career.

Anyway regardless of whether the Bobcats get Psycho T the guy is a hard worker and will have a solid NBA career before he is done. What has held him back this season is he is adjusting to the NBA where his position is a physical position and he has had some minor nagging injuries. Those things will correct themselves with some work in the gym. Either way all you UNC haters and Tyler haters will one day be crying that the Bobcats didn't get the guy.

Sounds good but I don't think the Spurs are thinking future this season. They are still good enough to be a low seed in the playoffs. If the Spurs make a deal it will be one where they feel they improve this season not possibly two to three years down the line. Most teams are going to want nothing but expiring contracts unless the player/players they receive are sure to have an immediate impact that will last for several years.

Besides the problem Jefferson is having is not something that can not be ironed out in the near future. Jefferson is relatively old but compared to the wear and tear of many of the other Spurs he is a spring chicken. I am sure that Pop's and the Spurs are not quite ready to send Jefferson packing. I mean it is only the half way point of the season and it's not like Jefferson is a major problem piece on the Spurs team. The Spurs are just about used up. That is all.

I think the best the Bobcats can do is to find a way to get a solid but not great backup PF. As far as McDyess he is way too far ahead in his career to go after him. It is not worth it for one season just to be a fifth seed. The Bobcats would be better off being an eighth seed if it means they have a young player with upside for a near future run at a title.

I am glad the Bobcats don't have any of the older PF's who have little time left. If they can get a solid player with future All Star appearance up side that is what I would prefer. Maybe we have to wait till the draft. If that is the case I can endure. The Bobcats still could make the playoffs. If they get back to playing like they did before New Years and a little after they will. I am patient enough to let this thing build. I would rather the Bobcats draft well and trade for young players than them making some one season push for the championship ala the Celtics. Why win one title when you can maybe be set to win several. A dynasty is so much better.
