even if this is in the panthers 2008-2009 mentality of "going all in because we may not be here next year" mentality, it's not hopeless. as crappy as our front office has been compared to the top minds in the nba, i can't see how they would sacrifice a future 1st for 30 games + a playoff run for a 23 year old athletic guy that is exactly the kind of player lb likes. i figure a combination of tc/gana/nazy's release or trade, combined with felton offering a hometown discount could bring our number closer to the luxury tax number. i'm not saying we won't go over, but 11M over seems like a pessimistic view. let's say we end up 2-4M over....is it that bad? we've never hit that number in this franchise's history. and if we are a #5-#6 seed playoff contender with a nice blend of youth, athleticism and veteran savvy, i can't see it not being justified.

If I'm not mistaken, between the time we tender TT and the time he signs it, he counts over 14 million towards the cap. So that pretty much means that without any draft picks to help us move players in or out, our entire offseason is pretty much limited to re-signing Felton and offering the mid-level exception. And that is it. Correct?

Meaning this next year's team will probably be almost identical to start the season.

    You knew he'd be desperate.

Now what happens when they sign Joe Johnson and Amar'e to max contracts?

Barring trades, minimum signings, and Stevie leaving, probably.

Its an obvious road block, and if they didnt think of it, then they will be immediately run out of town.

They will still only win about 30 games a season because the other 11-12 players on their team will be average talent or less because that is all they can afford to get.

Then we just have to wait and see if we resign him.
