    Default Bill Simmons NBA "fix-it"

Absolutely brilliant column, though it'll never happen. We'd be paying next to nothing for tickets.

    Nice find!

That was a good article...well worth the read.

Only big nitpick I have is he didn't mention that the players have to put a % of their salary in "escrow" and they lose part or all of it depending on the team's revenue...so the players' salaries actually do go down.

Only what, 5-10%? It's not a huge number by any means except for the minimum guys.

I would say that the escrow money should be tied to winning, but then there would be more incentive to sign with the superpowers rather than a struggling team.

Great article. I agree with most of it.
    SOMEONE will pay for THIS!

Pretty sure it's around 10% and that's like 11 million off of Arenas' contract for example. Added all together that's a nice chunk of change and would be what...maybe 25% of that 400 million?

I didn't say it was a lot...only that it's something, and Simmons didn't mention it.

Did y'all find it interesting how Simmons talked about how now was NOT the time to be buying an NBA franchise?

Eh, I dunno. Prices are the lowest they've been in a while, and with the owners set to save money after the lockout, they should only go up. But I'm not a billionaire, so its not my call how to blow $300 million.

spectre...I did take a "mental note" of that...but the numbers (price) I saw today were much more realistic if Postolos is "buying" than the stuff floating a few weeks ago...it certainly fits better with the "evaluation" of the team worth...
