Default Despite no draft picks, Bobcats will have summer league team...

Two quick pre-game notes, heading into the Charlotte Bobcats' home game Friday against the Washington Wizards:

-- The Wizards lost another starter; Al Thornton is out with a strained right hip flexor. He'll be replaced in the starting lineup by former Development League player Alonzo Gee.

-- The Bobcats made two cost-saving moves last spring, deciding not to field a summer-league team and not to hold training camp outside Charlotte. Coach Larry Brown asked that they revisit the summer-league decision.

General manager Rod Higgins confirmed pre-game that the Bobcats will be in Orlando's summer league in early July.

I guess we'll bring in d-leaguers, and undrafted players to team with Ajinca, DJ, Brown, & Henderson as I don't believe anyone else would be eligable to play.

That's great...PT for the young guys never hurt.

Gee was a D Leaguer? Damn.

DJ, UPS, Hendo, Lexy, + some undrafted guys and d-leaguers, I like it. LB needs to do something over the summer to release his nervous energy anyways.

It'll be good for them. AA, Hendo and UPS can start and rack up huge minutes. Who cares if they keep loosing, it'll be great dev. time for them.

If we do not trade for a pick and this draft is as deep as it is being sold then it is a great advantage to bring in guys that might have been "second round sleepers" in other drafts...we'll have some slots that have to be filled and "lucking-up" on a good player would be great...with a summer league team at least the staff will have the chance to watch rookies against the young guys we already have and I'm glad to see us doing this...

As if the Bobcats need a freaking PG.

They need a dominant inside scorer, PERIOD.

    Felton
    Jackson
    Wallace
    Thomas
    DOMINANT INSIDE PLAYER...period.

That's what I'd like to see starting next season.

This is a good thing in my opinion, if UPS, Hendo, or Lexy can go off like some of the summer leaguers did last summer (aka Anthony Randolph), it could really boost their confidence and more importantly, LB's confidence in them.
