Well, that 'let em fly' mentality can be more so attributed to SVG's philosophy than anything else. Before we signed Stan, our players were almost hesitant to shoot threes unless they were open without a soul in sight. Turk, for instance, attempted 281 threes during the 06-07 season, and then attempted 415 during our first season with Van Gundy. This trend of greater three-point shot frequency applied to the entire team, so on most occasions, passing up even a semi-open three was seen as a mistake.

The Cats could really use a player like, dare I say, JJ Redick to prevent teams from clogging the lane.

I'm not suggesting you should trade him without a thought, since he showed some great promise in game 4, but Tyrus Thomas might be able to fetch a nice shooter or two. And I know the saying, that you don't trade big for small, but Charlotte doesn't seem like they'd suffer much. They have an abundance of bigs.

100% agree with this. if we can get good return. i am very afraid the TT is a "contract year player" and we be a pain in the ass after he signs for new money.

But DJ Augustin is about as bright a prospect as Greg Oden. It ain't happening.
teej, I think that is a totally unfair statement about DJ. Was DJ much of an asset this season overall? No. Did he show signs of getting it turned around late? Yes. Should we write the guy off after he had a poor sophomore season? I say no. Last season we were all talking like DJ could take over for Felton and in fact many of us were ready to give him the job. I just think that we sometimes jump the gun and get a bit too critical when it is not warranted.

I also would like to defend Oden. Greg has had very little opportunity to improve or grow as a player in the NBA. Constant injuries have cost him a ridiculous amount of playing time. When Greg got hurt this last time he was starting to show signs of being a pretty good player. I guess my point is we can not write either Greg Oden or DJ Augustin off just yet.

On a side note it is not unheard of for players to reach their peak in three, four or even five years.

I will go out on a limb and say that both DJ and Greg have solid seasons next year. I won't say they will be All Stars but then again that is not necessarily the only standard by which a good season can be judged. I look forward to seeing how my prediction turns out.

One of the best posts I've read here in a while and it's from a Magic fan? And still our posters can turn it into negative sniping. The ironic part is this is the arc of most teams trying to make the leap into the playoffs.

    Thanks, fellas.

Now, we've gotta take care of business against the Hawks. I'm not worried, though. We're to the Hawks what Detroit was to us a few seasons ago. It's been horribly lopsided in the regular season. Unlike Charlotte, they have no one to frustrate Dwight, so it'll be all good.

This 8 day layoff has been brutal.

The first team to win their first round series plays the team that was last to win their series. It doesn't look too good for Hawks fans right now, especially since it took them seven games to beat an old, hobbled deer. What's your prediction on this one?

I think we'll get em' in 5 games. I'm tempted to predict a sweep, but I don't wanna sound overconfident. They do have a solid team. I just don't think they'll be able to execute well down the stretch by iso'ing Joe/Crawford all quarter. To me, Crash/Jackson is 10x the wing combo that Crawford/Johnson are, and if we survived them, we can certainly survive against the Hawks.

Jameer always torches Bibby, Vince won't be guarded as tenaciously as he was against the Cats, and as I mentioned, they have no answer for Dwight...at all.

I'm sticking with Magic in 5. Hawks will probably get game 3.

Thanks, man. I have no doubts that Larry will resign with Charlotte, though. He's mentioned it several times that he'll stay as long as MJ wants him, and he clearly does. Charlotte's management is simply top notch right now. You just gotta register more time with your current team, and they're a top 5 seed easily.

Aaaaahhh...I miss the Cleveland blowouts. You'll have to let us borrow Crash for that series. Certainly we can reach a compromise.
