    Default The comic book thread

I know that there are a few current or former comic book junkies here on BCP.

My question is this, What comic book event had the biggest impact on you as a reader?

Mine was this one many years back when Bullseye killed Elektra with her own sai. As a kid, that saga really had me down.

Elfquest when One-Eye bites it in the fight for the palace. Even back then I was into independent stuff. Plus I was totally a D&D nerd.

Over time I got into other stuff like Concrete and Sandman and a whole bunch of manga but that was the first big death of a character that I remember.

All of the EQ comics are online on the official site for free at elfquest.com.

Damn, I just wish I had access to comics regularly as they were published, this way, all that's left for me to do is to recapitulate the already established lore via a pirate's own brand of digi-issues.

I'm currently reading 'Tom Strong' and its convoluted mess of intertwined, random stories... which are a blast.

As a comic book reader, this is a character that had a big impact on me:

    The Silver Surfer

At the time in the comic book universe, there was absolutely no character that had a cooler look than this guy. I bought absolutely everything that he appeared in as long as the little bit of money that I had held up.

    Character: Alan Moore's Swamp Thing

Scene: From Hell: The moment Jack the Ripper is killing someone and then the next page shows him crouching on a desk in a modern office space. I had to close the book for a few minutes.
    SOMEONE will pay for THIS!
