Default P.O.W. camp and Raymond Felton

I just came up with this responding to one of Rick Bonnell's blogs under a different username. Wanted to see what you guys think.

Think of being stuck in the regular season with no playoff games as being stuck in a P.O.W. camp.

For 5-plus years, you have been stuck in this miserable P.O.W. camp. But some fellas have been trying real hard to get you out of it. One of them is a Mr. Wallace. Another is a Mr. Felton.

Finally, with the help of a new, brash, addition known as a Mr. Jackson, these hard-working young men have succeeded in making an agreement to get you out of the P.O.W. camp!

The day arrives for you to get beyond the P.O.W. camp. Mr. Felton arrives with the car to pick you up and drive you to the airport. On the way to the airport, he gets lost 3 times. At one point, he temporarily loses control of the vehicle and brushes up against a tree but no one is seriously injured. He basically does a lousy job once he has freed you from the camp.

Trashing Raymond Felton and letting him go unsigned ONLY because of the Orlando series is like getting mad at him on this drive to airport after being a P.O.W. for 5+ years.

Very interesting! Great analogy. LOL. I think the Bobcats will make a mistake if they don't sign Raymond. I mean sign him at a reasonable price. After the growth and development he has made under LB and improvement in his shooting and turnovers, I just don't see it as being a difficult decision. His playoff performance did disappoint me but not enough to erase the stellar regular season he had both defensively and offensively. I have noticed that the playoffs did not hurt his stock because he is still the number 1 point guard in free agency. The two links below rank free agents from an overall standpoint. I know it is also a business so maybe the front office feels DJ is ready. I am for giving the former POW another shot.

I think that’s a bad analogy to tell you the truth.First impressions last, well for me anyway especially when it comes to driving. If i got someone to drop me off at the airport and he almost crashes into a tree(lol) and gets lost on the way there, 3(lol) times, there’s no way i’m getting him to take me anywhere in a car ever again.
I’d rather ride the back of a Camel,at least i won’t be paying for gas.

Yeah, I say we resign him, I'll cite that Magic fan's post here after we lost to them when he mentioned how Jameer Nelson once got torched by Chauncy Billups in his first playoff series. You can't determine a player on one playoff series, especially when the guy made big strides this year. Plus, I think we can all agree that at this point DJ is not a better option, and there's no way we can sign a better PG in free agency with our cap situation.

In the NBA you have to be a proven impact the game type of player to be worth much more then the mid level. Raymond Felton has not proven that yet so it would be foolish to pay more then 6-7 mil per year on a long deal.

He has been an above average player who is really good in the clutch. I love the guy as a Bobcat. I also think if he wants star money he needs to play like one of the top 10 point guards in the league.

I hope the Bobcats make a fair offer but don't overpay. The rest is up to Raymond Felton.

Dude...he scratched my car! He scratched my baby against a tree...
    No Mercy!

On the serious side, I understand what your getting at, but need I remind you NBA is a business? Everyone wants to win, as winning leads to fans, fans lead to butts in seats, butts in seats leads to profit. Profit leads to investment. Investment leads to better players. Better players leads to championships.

    ^ love your font, dude...

Yes, you pointed out that you'd not let Mr. Felton ever drive you again anywhere, but you made no mention whether you'd allow him to work on your release program should your adversaries ever capture you again, i.e., you failed to address all accounts before you smeared the 'bad analogy' paint all over it... so, would you let Mr. Felton secure your freedom the 2nd time?

I thought the analogy was nigh perfect.
