My realistic Prediction of the Bobcats' offseason

Plan 1: Trade Nazr Mohammed to Minnesota for Kevin Love and Ramon Sessions.

Why for Charlotte? Obviously, it's turning an expiring contract for two players that you know will contribute to the Charlotte Bobcats. Love is a fantastic rebounder and very solid scorer. He would certainly be a better starting option than any Center we have on the roster (yes i'm aware he's a PF). Sessions would provide that combo guard role that Flip Murray did last year before he was traded off. While Murray is a better shooter, Sessions is a better distributor which makes him more valuable to Larry Brown.

Why for Minnesota? They obviously can't find a role in their team for Love and Sessions. The team is desperate for freeing up money; this deal accomplishes that. Sessions hasn't meshed with the new guys they want to roll with, mainly Flynn, so getting rid of this contract would be beneficial for their plan. I don't know why Minnesota doesn't want to play Love, but one man's trash is another person's treasure.

Plan 2: Resign Felton for the best deal you can give for both parties.

Plan 3: Resign Ratliff and Hughes to vet minimum as they're cheap bodies.

5 BIG Things They Won't Do

1. They're NOT trading Boris Diaw
2. Tyson Chandler is NOT going to opt out of his almost 13 million dollar expiring contract. That's just ridiculous!
3. They're NOT going to let Felton or Thomas walk.
4. Tyrus Thomas is NOT going to start over Boris Diaw (even though Thomas is better than Boris)
5. We're NOT going to go crazy and deal a bunch of players

*** DISCLAIMER: Obviously that deal might not happen. But, what I mean is that we're going to make a deal similar to that to try and add talent. In this day in the NBA, expiring contracts are very valuable. I feel Minnesota would make that deal, but I wouldn't be shocked if it was another team. I looked into Minnesota's situation and read articles relating to Love and Sessions and I feel that they're expendable considering Minnesota's new vision.***

I would love for that to happen, but I have doubts Minny would bite on that trade. They only have 31 million on the books for next season (assuming DX didn't cut one of their players)...so I doubt they're desperate to cut salary.

Love/Sessions<->Nazr (or a similar trade) doesn't seem to me like something another team would do just for cap-space or future cap-space.

Also, if we did get Sessions, or a similar caliber point guard, would we still resign Raymond? I would think that that would be all the reason the FO would need to not extend a contract offer to Ray.

Right, and trading Boris Diaw, Diop, and others is realistic? Who in the NBA would take on Diop and Diaw's contracts unless we took back an even worse contract? Realistically, we're not making much of an impact besides a deal with one of our expirings (more realistically Mohammed than Chandler)

You all seem to think we're going to pull a bunch of trades and that's just not happening! We're probably going to make one deal and then sign our own to contracts, qualifying offers, and minimum deals. This is going to be another boring offseason whether you want to accept it now or deny, then find out later that we're going to end up doing a whole lot of nothing.

Hell, they started Darko Milicic over Kevin Love...that says a lot considering Love is averaging a double double and he's not even getting 30 minutes a night! As for Sessions, they've tried to team him with Flynn and they're just not working out together. Out of the two, who is Minnesota more than likely going to package out of town? Sessions.

Muttley, I had that same thought about Sessions and relating it to Felton. I think we'd still keep Felton. I think the plan no matter what is to keep Felton and we're going to make a very solid effort to bringing him back. I just would be shocked if we didn't see Raymond Felton back on a long term deal for the Charlotte Bobcats.

You answered your own question. In the only credible deal with Gana & Boris I've seen we were taking back Hedo's terrible contract.

You don't think they could get better than Nazr? Kevin Love was a 5th overall pick, and the reason he was behind Darko was because of fit with AL Jeff. They also don't need expirings.

Besides, the rumors have them preferring to move Al Jeff over Love.

Why don't you enlighten me on what you think is going to happen? Because I just find it hard to believe we'll be looking for a starting point guard when Felton is going to be resigned. We're certainly not going to bring aboard a 8 plus million dollar PG when we're bringing Felton back and we're not going to invest around 14 to 16+ million dollars in point guard money this season. I'm curious what you think is going to happen because it's just different than what I think.

SirBobcat...here's the issue in a nutshell:

We're right at the luxury tax right now with Tyrus accepting the qualifying offer.

Re-signing Felton ADDS to our salary and puts us over the LT.

Trading for another PG regardless of what he's making keeps our salary neutral.

In order to stay under the self mandated line it appears the FO is looking to go the latter route even if it weakens another position.

That's what it's looking like anyway. I don't like it, but such is life.
