I think it would have been one of those "we'll cut brown loose, you sign him, but as part of the agreement you send us blah blah draft pick for $1" As I understand you can't trade coaches, but their contracts have "no compete" clauses where they can't work as a coach if they terminate without paying, in this case jordan would waive the no compete on the condition that he gets some draft picks...which then invokes the NBA rule that you cant trade something for nothing, but you can trade picks for cash considerations, in this case $1 as the token cash consideration to make it legal. Its about as complicated as the multi trade deals we're all dreaming about to get CP3.
