Default Who goes with the Dust chip

So Rod said we are waiting until September 13th aka Dust Day. The reason we are doing this is so we can package him with other players after this date, so the question is... who is most likely to go with him?

Hopefully everyone except Crash and maybe Shaun. As long as we get decent value in return.

If we're going after a point guard it's DJ, if we're going after a center it's Diaw.

Hmmm. found this little titbit from the time Damp was still a Mav:

Assuming the inevitable, Damp's contract becomes unguaranteed because he fails to play enough minutes, what date does Cuban (or whatever team he is on) have to waive him by before the contract becomes guaranteed?
If there's a date, it isn't disclosed yet in anything we've seen. Which means if he isn't waived before then, it becomes a non-guaranteed deal all 2010-11 season, in essence a pay-as-you-go (like a rookie often has) where he can be cut at any time prior to Jan 10, 2011 and nothing more is owed other than pro-rated up to that point at the contract value..

On 1/10/11 it would automatically become guaranteed for the rest of the season if he's still on a roster with that contract at that point. (Won't happen. of course.)
So could we keep him until Jan and just pay him for the games he suits up for us? Sounds like it. I would guess that for cap and luxury tax purposes, any amounts we do pay him do not count towards the cap since the contract is still unguaranteed during that time.

As we have seen with the Jax trade, many more opportunities for a trade may appear after the season starts. It might be wise to hang on to him for a while.

Its going down like this. Players in

    Charlotte,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Denver,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Houston,,,,,,,,
    Smith,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,K , Martain,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Mell o,,,,,,,,,,,,,
    Anderson,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Battier,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Diaw,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
    Lawson,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Damp,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,A ugustin,,,,,,,,,,
    Jeffries,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Henderson,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, J, Hill,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Charlotte 2nd,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,
    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Houston 1st ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,

Mello gets to go to Houston , His choice, Denver gets Martain, a first and a second.
We get all the way out of the Tax and pick up four quility players.

This works for all three teams and gets us out of the Tax , And could save Denver 13 milion off thair books. Houston , you have to give something to get something..

Any of you number crunchers tell me if this don't work. Sept. 13th

Damn, I hate to be in a deal that has Carmello in it and he doesn't end up with us but...

So, for us, it ultimately would mean us trading Damp, Diaw, Henderson and DJ for JR Smith, Anderson, Lawson and Jeffries.

Of those 8 players, I think Lawson and Henderson have the most long term potential. Lawson would fit our needs well. Chris Anderson would certainly be a welcome energy guy and JR Smith (off the bench) I would be in favor of. Although I don't think this is a huge homerun for us, I would probably pull the trigger on this deal.
