Default Anyone watch games on Direct TV?

Ok guys you all know we have been bitching about the games in my neck of the weeds for years, after talking to Windstream ( who just bought out my local company) I contacted them to see if they were going to get the Bobcats games this year. They told me know as there wasn't any demand or requests for them, so they couldn't justify the cost for a few viewers. So I politely told them to F$@k Off.

I called Time Warner ( and this is where the shit gets good). I live out on High Rock Lake, and there is only 2 homes on my qtr mile street (New Subdivision ) so I had to put in a ticket to see if they serviced my area. They called me back yesterday and said they are on the main street ( 1/4th mile from my door ) but for them to run cable to my house they wanted me to pay ( wait for it,, wait for it....) 9'000.00. I told them I would if they would give me free Cable and High Speed Broadband for 10 yrs. They declined so I declined.

So now my only option now is to get Direct TV ( I called Dish but they said they want carry all the games), so the question is are any of you guys using Direct TV with trees around your home? And secondly which package did you go with? I was thinking the Choice Extra package ( as all I watch really is sports and news ) with the HD DVR receiver x 3.

Just trying to get an idea of the service before I tell them to come out and install it. Just for once I would like to see the games without using streams. And considering I am able to watch more atlanta hawks games than bobcats games. I was able to watch more bobcats games on the NC14 channel they had a few years back..lol.

    Appreciate any feedback.

I have DTV and the games are blacked out.

    I'm in Sanford, NC.

Unless you are in a 75 mile radius of Charlotte, the games will be blacked out on SportsSouth and League Pass.

That's how it was last year at least. I've got my fingers crossed something has changed, but I doubt it.

i opened a thread on this on the off topic forum. i called them this week and told them about the inner/outer market thing. i am in durham. i told them twc pays for the outer market and neither of the sat tv companies do. i told the sales lady (who had no idea about any of this, i had to explain it multiple times) i would sign up that day if they get the outer market rights but have to stay with twc otherwise. she said she would pass it up to her supervisor. i also gave her the contact info for michael thompson at the bobcats. doubt it will do any good, but if you call and request it, it can't hurt.

the round about is to open a PO box or use a friends address inside the inner market as your "service address" once you have it installed ie change the service address. you can do it online. you will then get the bobcats games, but will lose your local news.

Last season I had DirectTV at home and for the most part I got the games. Pretty much all of them weren't in HD or on alternates of FS South, SS, FS Carolina, but I got them I cant think of a time off-hand that a game was blacked out (there was maybe 2-3 times I remember). I was in Mooresville by the way (if my av didn't tell you). Now im splitting time between Mooresvile and Indiana so my Bobcats watching schedule is going to be severely affected, so I really can't tell you anything about this season.
    Hope that little rant helped

I think Davidson county is in the 75 mile range, so you should be ok. The service for DirecTv, Bobcats related or not, is 10x better than Time Warner or Charter or whatever cable company. The HD on every channel is better, the channel choices are better, and in most cases it's cheaper. We live in a wooded area, but as long as no trees cover the area between your dish and the southern sky, you're perfectly fine. It's gone out all of one time due to weather, and that was when our internet (still Charter cable) went out too, in a hail storm. It's far more reliable than cable would make you think, and they have everything better. You get Panthers, Bobcats, Braves, Nationals and Orioles games on the local networks and NBATV, NFL Network, MLB Network, NHLTV, pretty much everything. We've got the 3rd package (not premium, but the next best, I think it's Choice XTra but I don't remember) and it's awesome. Plus, if you want NFL Sunday Ticket, that's awesome too.
