Default Captain Jack #22 on the go to guy list

#22 - Does that sound about right to you guys?

Stephen Jackson is a soldier. And he might have Winslow’s quote tatted somewhere in his tapestry of body art. He will go into the crowd, knuckles up, discipline be damned, ready to defend his squad. Whether it’s a discriminatory (in his mind) referee or an opposing player threatening his guys, Jackson will go to bat. He takes it upon himself to mentor younger players, and soaks up lessons taught to him by coaches and older veterans like it’s gospel. In a lot of ways, Jackson is the ideal teammate.
That loyalty, plus achieving a balance of knowing when to lead and when to follow, makes Jackson a strong candidate to be the go-to player on a good team. At the same time, he doesn’t produce consistently enough in clutch situations to be considered truly elite among his go-to peers.

Way too low, but whatever. He's made so many huge shots in the last 8 years - a ranking based on one year doesn't really have any significance, IMO.

Really have to see who they put ahead of him to make a call on whether it is about right or not.

Same here. But that money 3 he hit in PHX to send it to OT last year....never forget the collective gasp from the crowd and the silence that followed after he drilled that one. But then there was the game in LA too...

What was it, 1-16? George Seifert would've been proud.

    Jax talks to Bill Ingram:

NBA At 2: Trouble In Charlotte?

Third-year point guard DJ Augustin has potential, but Jackson tells HOOPSWORLD this year's team has a long way to go to push beyond the success they had last season.
"We've got work to do, man. We've got a lot of new guys who are trying to come in and play, and we've got a to find a way where we can be more confident out there and not rely on the coaches to get us into everything that we do. We need to get the ball up the floor quicker so we can play with some freedom and not just wait for the coach on every play. Until we get to that point, we're going to look like robots out there."

Last year the Bobcats knew who they were, and the goal of making the playoffs was clearly in their sights. Now, with their floor leader gone, they seem to be a team that lacks identity.

"Definitely," agrees Jackson. "That's the best way to put it. We have no identity right now. We have a lot of young guys right now, and they're trying to figure out how they're going to get in and how they're going to help us. I think that's the main reason we don't have an identity right now."
