Default How bad does the NBA want rid of George Shinn?...

This bad, apparently. This just might be an unprecedented move.

The best comparison to this may be the purchase of the Expos by the MLB.

If I write my sad, sad pipe dream, I hope that the team is bought by, say, Steve Ballmer who recently liquidated $1.3 million in Microsoft stock. The Hornets move to Seattle, change the name to Sonics. Maybe the Bobcats are open to changing their name back to Hornets, bada-bing bada-boom

I don't think its the NBA wanting to oust Shinn as much as its the NBA kissing New Orleans ass. Nothing against them but still they have the Katrina card.

Someone somewhere at the NBA is thinking that owning 1 team makes the threat of contraction of the league a lot more real. Thats a huge chip to hold during the CBA talks.

yeah that is bs. it has been 5 years, they have the best pg in the league and still have terrible attendance. i was all for giving them a free pass or two, but the league should force a fair trade of cp3 and then have a contraction draft with one other team. or, how exciting would a contraction draft be if cp3 was available?

On the flip the NBA dishing out 300 million for a team that probably isn't worth that should give the players' union a point to argue; if they're doing so bad why were they so quick to make this move?
