Default Could there be any gems in the NBDL

We have talked about blowing the team up and I could not agree more at this time. At the start of the season I had some hope for the team because I THOUGHT they were trying but as the last 10 or so games have taken place I realize that is not happening any longer. I am not really all that up to date on the NBDL and what players are affiliated with us. Would it be off base to consider any NBDL talent coming to our team and giving it a shot? I know there are times that teams call up players for 10 day contracts. At this point any players who may be associated with us may as well be given a shot right?

Forgive my ignorance "if indeed I am" in regards to the NBDL. I figured we had to have a few players with the Maine Red Claws that are property of ours. I know we have not drafted any players that would be part of the NBDL but I figured we may have a few who are property of ours through the Maine Red Claws. Are we developing ANY players?

Maybe Trey Johnson...6'5" shooting guard that is shown on the 2nd line...26.9ppg/52% from field/33% from 3pt/83% from the line

But maybe there is a reason he's been in the NBDL for 3 years. Usually the high scoring guards are much shorter (and therefore less capable of making it the NBA, this guy is 6'5" so plenty tall).

Thanks for adding that. It would be a real bonus to get a cheap talented player from the NBDL that could make the team. At this point we really have nothing to lose by going the NBDL route. This team can not be any worse than it is now.

I would not be so quick to take that stance. A few NBDL players have done well when called up into the NBA and from looking at several trade scenarios I just don't see where we have many options. What we get in return may not be so good. We have been down this trade road before and all it amounted to was a temporary fix for a long term problem. That is not to say we should not trade but it also would not hurt to take a look at some NBDL players. We are only talking about 10 day contracts to start so it is not like it will hurt us doing so. If there is a chance that a player pans out it is a feel good story and it benefits us. Nothing ventured nothing gained is how I look at trying out a few NBDL players.

Our team has turned 1 player into "something" from NBADL (Matt), and one player into a "3rd string NBA" from 1st string DL (Cartier Martin), which is still improvement, at least in terms of pay and had another do well here and then get shipped off to be even better I think we know about the slam dunk man in LA -dumbasses let him go and didn't play him enough anyway.

Yeah, talent identification (since Bernie and/or under Rod) hasn't been a problem, it's the coaching up/playing of that talent...

Any shot we bring in a coach who knows how to get the young guys moving when larry dumps out (which I honestly think is going to be mid-season). BTW my avatar message has been there since before the season started...
