Default Thoughts from the Season Ticket Holders

We are all fans, and we are all miserable when our team is playing poorly, but I wanted to get the thoughts from current season ticket holders ( for the record, I am not one ).

These guys not only have been suffering through the games like the rest of us, but they have also laid out thousands of dollars to do it.

Season Ticket Holders, this is your thread. Tell us how you are feeling.

Well, one way which has been pure luck for me was that I had to miss the Magic and Celtics games so I think they are 6-4 at the games I've actually been to. Watching them play to the (bad) opponents skill level is greatly unsettling when it looks like the guys just are not giving their best effort. Like others have said here, it's much easier to handle the losing when it looks like they are trying their best but are just outmatched. I think the most annoying thing is when some of them just give up during a game, not because they are down by a lot, just because things aren't exactly going their way; one example of that was watching Jack during the Raptors game. I distinctly remember him turning the ball over at one point then just standing in the exact spot on the floor watching the guy take it to the other side for an uncontested layup. That isn't at all an attack on Jack because he isn't the only one but I remember thinking during that play "really, you are starting from the same place on the court and you aren't even going to try and run him down? at least get in his way a little?" Another fun little fact here is that from where I live its a 90 min drive ONE WAY so a game is ~4pm - ~11pm ordeal so personally I just wish that we had people who would at least give it their all.
Thanks for this thread, I think I needed it

I too live an hour a way and drive an SUV so its 20 bucks just to get there and back on gas. on top of ticket prices i've already paid, and of course the 2-4 $9 dollar beers i drink.

so how do i feel about all this... in a word, robbed.

ive been a season ticket holder for 4 years now and even when the Ham Biscuit years were here, at least the team played hard. thats why I am so down on Larry Brown. If you are gonna run a slow plodding inefficient and other worldly terrible offense, at least have the guys playing with some intensity!

Really I don't feel any different than y'all non-STHs. Which is to say, I'm thoroughly pissed and on the "fuck em" train of thought like SWedd. This is my 4th year (yeah, it started with Sammy...) and I can say it's been the worst experience by far...we were hindered by poor coaching and lack of talent during FHB, not an absolute lack of effort and desire....not a team full of dicks who basically shoot us fans the bird with their lackluster way they play.

But like I said, that's not any different from how non-STHs are feeling. It helps I suppose that the tix this year were a gift from my dad and they are the cheapest available. And while my drive is around 60-65 minutes also, barring traffic disasters, I still look forward to going to the arena though now it's to meet and greet with friendly staff I've made friends of over the years and much less about watching the Cats play. And that's the biggest change: my attitude during games. I think I clapped a few times during the few buckets of the Celts game, but there was no applause at all during the Raptors game...and I left both of these games well before the final buzzer sounded, all things I rarely if ever did in the past.

I was thinking last night if Bobby was still owner of the team I would definitely not renew next season (and possibly look for a new team), but as long as MJ is here, I'll support him even while hating the players on the team. I'm of the opinion MJ is stubborn, but no an idiot, and he'll make changes that will have me excited about the Bobcats in the not too distant future.
"The Charlotte Hornets name has been a mainstay throughout the region for many years, and we are excited to announce our intention to re-establish this historic brand. We believe that its return will galvanize our fan base by unifying our loyal Bobcats fans with those who have strong memories of our city's NBA predecessor." MJ, 5-21-13

This is my fifth year as a full-season holder (had weekend packages the first two years) and I think I fall mostly in line with Beagle and wpbillings. I'm thoroughly disappointed in the lack of effort I've seen from the team. That's really the one thing that will irk me beyond belief about a team, and man, they're doing it in spades. I still clap and cheer for the team mainly because of civic pride...I want any team that is in Charlotte to do well and I'm very happy when they do and I'll make as much noise as I need to when necessary to make that happen. I was definitely out of my seat chanting de-fense at the Raptors game. Now, I did leave early from the Celtics game, which is something I rarely do at any sporting event.

I also because I really do like my seat neighbors...good people to chat about life in general with and I just really enjoy the in-house NBA experience. Granted, the team on the floor right now isn't hitting all cylinders for me, but there always seems to be a skit or something that makes it a good night out. I mean, I could go home and sit in front of the TV or go to an NBA game.

Long story short, I'm not at all happy with how the team is conducting itself, but I enjoy the evening out and, like Beagle, have confidence that Jordan will do something to change this mess. I have no doubt he can't stand to have his name stamped on this mess, so he's highly motivated to change it.

The lack of effort makes me not even want to go . We go any way , I think it's mainly because the money thets invested. With that said i think MJ is trying . The half time shows are better. other than the game its self i think most aspects of the enertainment is better ,

    Thanks Ammofan!

I am also a 5 year STH...2 seats every game and 3 additional seats for 1/3 of the games. I'm generally upbeat and optomistic about the Bobcats and very active on the Bobcats Live Game Chats for away games and the occassionaly game I can't attend. Having said that, I am in the same boat as most of the guys above, the lack of 'caring' this year is like a punch in the gut. I've seen games where Yao and Rockets beat the Cats by 40 points, where Ray Allen drained the 3 pointer after "Sam I Am" refused to call a time out, but I've never left as dejected as I was at the Celtics game last weekend. Part of that was the obnoxious Celtic fans around me, but mostly it was the absence of passion from anyone wearing a Bobcats jersey. I boycotted a home game for the first time in 5 years (I've missed games, but always because of a scheduling conflict), I missed the Toronto game as my mini-statment to MJ that, inspite of his induction into the HoF, he needs to fix the product on the floor and fast if he wants the respect of the fan base. My purchase decisions are based off the product on the floor and their dedication to being good citizens in the community, not based off who owns the team. And I'm not looking for angels, just no Rae Carruths, Derrick Coleman, etc types.

The off the court experience has improved since MJ took over. Most of the Arena staff has been very friendly, but there was always a hand full of people (ushers, concession workers) that seemed to hate their job and didn't mind expressing that sentiment via their actions. Thankfully those slugs are all gone.

What I wish, in the NFL and NBA is the impossible, I'd like their compensation to similar to the PGA tour, you get paid for your performance AFTER the week is over. That would dramatically improve the competition level. YEAH I know that's a pipe dream and would be too difficult to monitor in a TEAM sport. Problem the Cats have at the moment is, we aren't playing, functioning or talking like a TEAM.

Apparently they played somewhat better tonight, but still earned a loss. Hopefully they will play better over the next few games and I'll be back Hanging B's and 3's in Section 231 Tuesday night. After all, the Cats have 3 home games the week after Christmas, a perfect time to attract some disenchanted Panther fans.

thanks for the unique thread ziggy

Well...I've been to one game this year...my kids have used another couple of our tickets, and frankly I was underwhelmed to say the least...what I'm feeling right now...this is probably my last year for any package of season tickets...like others I have to drive to far to be bored-to-tears (at best) or simply disgusted...

I'm a first year full season ticket holder (I was a partial STH prior) and will say that I'm thoroughly disappointed in this team. The effort by the team as others have stated is horrid at best. They don't have the heart. I hate saying it but not having Felton, with all his shortcomings, has hurt this team in the end. He was all heart, even if he didn't execute perfectly all the time. As I'm typing this message they are getting waxed by the Wizards (the fricking Wizards?). MJ has to make some changes soon. I know there are rumors floating around about dealing Jackson and/or Wallace. They just may need to do it if it somehow rescues a season that's sinking like the Titanic. I will re-up next year most likely, but man they have to do something. Might be time for Brown to go too...
