I agree.....why the heck is Derrick Brown on the bench will McGuire plays? And MC is better than Hendo right now. No way Matt should be over there on the bench that much, especially when Jack isnt 100%
That's it. I've had it with LB and his love affair with marginally talented players. He's critical of Nazr when he goes for 18/8 and benches him for half the game, but McGuire can shoot 3-12 and plays 40 mins. Yeah, he had 17 rebounds, but how many offensive possessions were completely blown up because the ball ended up in the hands of a guy who has absolutely ZERO offensive ability. Atlanta wasn't even guarding the guy. We're playing 4 against 5 when he's on the floor. LB loathes one-dimensional offensive players, but heaps praise on a guy like McGuire who's just as one-dimensional.
That was a winable game if we sub in a guy who can make a shot down the stretch instead of McGuire dribbling around like a maniac and throwing up circus shots at the end of the shot clock. Larry Brown needs to go and take his antequated "Hoosiers" philosophies with him. As long as he values mediocre players who hustle over skilled, NBA-caliber players this team will go nowhere.

I agree with the first part. Second part not so much. I wouldn't be surprised if Jordan in a way told LB to develop Hendo for this year, since last year he did nothing but sit on the bench, loosing out on key development time. MC is good, but a sub-par defender and you know how LB is about that.

I have been one of Larry's biggest supporters so far and completely bought into the ILBIT phase.
I agree totally though that LB has run his course here and should be replaced. He doesn't want to be here and it is very obvious. We should not wait till the season is over. He should go sooner than later. He can say it is for personal reasons to be with his family and save some face but it needs to happen.
I am totally disgusted with his rotations and substitution pattern (or lack thereof). He seems to be ruining players more than developing them and his lack of passion is horrible. Time to go Larry.
Wow! Coming from you, WAM, that's huge and speaks volumes of the situation.
As for me, I was in the minority hoping MJ would've let Larry out of his contract during this past off-season. It was a worst-case scenario, something I, of course, hoped wouldn't happen, but this is what I foresaw in keeping Larry here against his wishes. Jack and some others spoke a good game (as usual) during the off-season about how much they love and respect Larry, and that managed to somewhat allay the fears and think they could come together, but alas it wasn't so.
In the pre-season prediction thread, I predicted (with a pessimistic slant) Larry would walk away a la his stint in San Antonio, and what was left of the team would come together, but now I'm not so sure. The 'Carolina Ties' will prohibit MJ from firing him, that much is a given, but I think the same ties will keep Larry from walking away. Like you say though, WAM, if a good enough exit strategy is devised, it can happen, and should.
"The Charlotte Hornets name has been a mainstay throughout the region for many years, and we are excited to announce our intention to re-establish this historic brand. We believe that its return will galvanize our fan base by unifying our loyal Bobcats fans with those who have strong memories of our city's NBA predecessor." MJ, 5-21-13
He should have left when he wanted out. It's not like we have 300 years of evidence of him leaving teams worse off when he doesn't want to be there. It was a mistake to bring him back, and every week we keep him longer compounds that gaffe.
I broke it down on the blog today. Larry isn't a stats guy (obviously), but looking at it, you can't deny Tyrus and Nazr's impact in the time they play. Would their PER and all that go down with more minutes? Sure but would we have a better shot? Remains to be seen. I'm worn out with the down in the mouth shit. I'm worn out with him getting into guy's faces like they did something wrong every time out, and stoppage of play. Yeah, you never stop coaching but damn, it's getting on my nerves and I'm just watching on TV.
I'd be interested to see how the team would do under Hanners leadership if LB had to take a 2 week medical leave/personal leave. I'm not wishing harm or illness on LB, but in 2 weeks, we'd know if Larry is the problem or if it's the inability of the millionaires to co-exist and play as a team. That would actually help MJ, he could call BS on any flap the players give about it's the coach's fault or coach's strategy that is making them ineffective or unmotivated.
So...Beagle, do you have a potion hidden in your beard that gives a person a 2-week long abnominal cramp that has no long-lasting effects?
LB is a dingleberry on the ass of this franchise. Let him finish and walk and bring me Mark Jackson. And he can bring Patrick Ewing to coach up our bigs.
