Default Silas will bring uptempo style to the 'Cats

    http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/S...-game-57932671

"Paul Silas' first practice as the new interim coach of the Charlotte Bobcats Thursday had one noteworthy twist.

Instead of practicing with a 24-second shot clock, the Bobcats worked with a 14-second shot clock."

Will the new uptempo-style lead to more wins?

I'm a pretty firm believer that TT, Hendo, UPS, Jack, Crash, and Boris can all shine in a high tempo offense. Jack, Crash, and Boris have all been in high tempo offenses before and enjoyed success on all of those teams. I'm intrigued to see DJ passing in the fast break as I think he can find success because small guards seem to do well when the pace is quicker also.

I think problem #1 with this team under LB was that it was a bunch of quick, athletic guys built for a team coached by Mike D'Antoni or Don Nelson; but they were coached by someone who believed in the polar opposite.

I posted this in the Silas thread but I wonder if starting Diaw or Thomas at Center would be a bad thing. Amare scores and plays much better defense at the Center than at PF. There is no question T.T. has all the physical tools to be just as good a scorer and shot blocker as Amare in the Run and Gun and the Bobcats perimter defense is much better than the help Amare gets.

The team will score more points AND they'll be more fun to watch, but defense will suffer big time. Which is ironic because defense has always helped this team stay in games.

Right now we're not doing either well.

I never understood why people think high tempo offense leads to bad defense.

It's possible to run on offense while still playing tough D. I think BCP/RGM people have long said an uptempo style offense is one that we should run. DJ, Crash, and TT are going to be the major benefactors of an uptempo offense.

Plus the fans are going to actually enjoy seeing them RUN, RUN, RUN!

Name me a team in the NBA that plays uptempo on offense and plays great defense. New York? Phoenix? Golden State? No, no, and no.
