The Truth, It has been spoken; and so the discussion of this shall begin![]()
I am a STH for in Charlotte and from time to time make a hawks game when i am in atlanta for work or fun.
I have started traveling to dallas a bit for work so decided to take in a mavs game last night. It was interesting to see what a difference in atmosphere, etc they have vs us.
1) The arena was rocking for a Tuesday night game against the trailblazers. It was over 80% full and out of that 80% it seemed at least 70% of them were actually into the game, knowledgeable of it and gave a sh!t
2) The presentation of the game was much more organized, flowed better and engeged the fans
3) The mavs were killed by injuries but still came up and played hard and squeaked out a win
4) Most hurtful was watching tyson chandler clean up, be named player of the games with a double double in points and rebounds and truly got the mavs the win by grabbing boards and getting it into terry's hot hands
It was so much fun i am going back tomorrow night before coming back to Charlotte and heading to the cable box for sat nights game
In Atlanta fans don't care about the teams at all even worse than Charlotte but it was nice to see in Dallas what happens when the owner makes a commitment to putting a winning product on the floor.
Anyway just venting a bit. I am sick of soaking thousands and thousands of dollars into the cats to see sh!t product put on the floor, lackadaisical fans and the team having to gove seats away to get people into the building that actually give a Sh!t. When will the cats learn it takes money to make money. I got a steal on my seats to the mavs game and i still paid 60 bucks. In charlotte for the seats i had in dallas i would be able to get them from a scalper 10 ft from our box office for 10-12 bucks. The seats i have in charlotte for 7 rows behind MJ and i pay 50 bucks a seat, in dallas they are more than twice that. Pluse it is damn near sold out in dallas every night. That is millions of dollars in revenue plus they have more merchandise sales and playoff games. I hold firm that saving 10 million in salary is given up twice over in lost revenue in other areas. Spend some damn money, put a truly winning product on the floor and you will be able to raise ticket prices, have a full house night in and night out, get other streams of revenue flowing and a team we can be proud of.
I am a diehard Bobcats fan but our franchise is still a F'ing joke and that was all validated by my trip to the mavs game. I have laker tickets in LA in two weeks and that will liekly be more depressing

The problem is obvious; however what in the world could WE do to influence an entire team and "fan-base"? It is very easy to discuss problems, it is hard to find solutions, and it is EVEN HARDER to implement them.
*drools* I wouldn't mind having John Amaechi after me, you know what they say about 6'10" gay black guys that played for a team with sparkles and stars on their uniforms

I wholeheartedly agree. Bobcats games are underwhelming. I've only been to one game where it actually felt like people gave a damn (Sadly, it was Bucks game near the end of last season). The only other times the crowd is active:
1) When Tyler Hansbrough or J.J. Reddick is playing. (WTF man. Booing role players? Get of the silly ACC mindset)
2) When a superstar named LeBron, Kobe, Wade, is in town. Or the Celtics. And that's because everybody is cheering for the other team.
I don't know what the solution is though.
