Default What is with all the Gerald Wallace hate?

Come on Jackson is playing bad but Wallace has an excuse. He has pretty much been hurt all season and never has a chance to recover because he is the Heart of this team. Like During the Bulls game after the brewer incident. He just went off. He has been holding himself back so he can maybe get completely healthy one of these days. His nickname is crash for a reason and sometimes he will get injured because of his play style.

Our problem is that we have no depth behind Wallace. We never have that is why he takes it upon himself to play 40 + minutes every game. He is getting older and we still have no back up for him. Just like Steve Smith. He is what Steve Smith is to the panthers and gets the same bs treatment from fans. He has a slump and some injuries and the fan base is out for his head. They're not superheros you know.

We need depth not a bunch of ludicrous trades. Thankfully Henderson has been stepping up.

I understand the heart of the team and all that but if he's hurt, he needs to sit down. Playing hurt isn't helping him or the team.

Also, his playstyle has changed in a LOT of ways. You'd almost never see Wallace go into 4th without a FG in season's past because he'd be on the glass fighting for boards - now he's out by the 3pt line or rolling off screens for jumper at the elbow. His man defense has been bad too... really bad. I think a lot of us are realizing that the Wallace who liked to fill up the stat sheet with multiple blocks steals and double digit rebounds is gone. Whether it be the injuries piling up, the new approach to the game, or a new mentality regarding how he takes care of his body, many are just trying to get what value we can for him before its all gone and each time he hits the floor or starts to hold something everyone gets a little sick inside.

That moment in the Bulls game was one of the few times this season that Wallace has approached the game like he did in the past.

Not sure what hate Steve Smith gets, but its not his fault that no one could get him the ball or get the attention of the defense on the other side of the field. He had a rookie QB staring him down, telegraphing the play, all season long...

Wallace and Jackson are KILLING this team! If he had ANY heart, he would realize that. If he really is still hurt, he needs to sit his ass down. We need to try to find a trade for BOTH Jackson and Wallace asap. These guys are just plain terrible, on a fast decline. Wallace finishes the year at this pace and his contract will be un-tradable because it will be labeled as one of the worse in the NBA! Wallace can't drive, he can't shoot, he can't even make lay-ups anymore. Heck, i've seen him not even run and give his all in transition. Jackson IS worse because not only does he SUCK, but he also turns the ball over. But Wallace is not helping this team either. What were getting out of Wallace right now, we could easily get out of McGuire if he was given 40 minutes. That's how far Wallace has dropped. He might even be untradeable now because of how far he has dropped.

Crash has not been right since the All Star break last year. I dont think things went to his head, but something has changed. He has not played like the Crash from the first part of last season but a handful of times. Maybe the concussions have taken more from him then he lets on, I dont know. But he is really hurting this team more times than he helps. Not as much as Jax, but still far more than is reasonable for someone making his money. It isn't personal, it's business. If he is not getting the job done, try to get someone who can.

His play has changed thanks to Jackson. Jackson plays the same he always has and Wallace, since he can't make Jackson leave, has been trying to adjust to his play style. Sometimes I feel like I watch a different game than others.

The 2 of them can't co-exist. I think that folks don't understand that we maxed out with the combo last year.

We need to start from scratch period!! MJ is too concerned about his bottom line to actually build off of what we currently have. I would rather take the chance that we could be like the OKC Thunder than keep making trades that make us no better than a 7th or 8th seed early knockout team. I am willing to watch a young team hustle and scrap only to miss the playoffs for two or three years till their is enough chemistry and talent to be a real contender.

Thing is, at this point even if we did start over by trading Wallace and Jack; We would still be in about the same position in terms of our chances to make the playoffs. I mean for the last 2 weeks we have been winning in spite of these guys. If we could make a trade and get ANY talent at all back, we would be improved. We need to give DJ some help. Never thought I would be saying that, but it's the truth. Dj needs help. Now I don't like Jackson anymore than the next guy, he has become pure frustration to watch. However, at least with Jackson you have that threat of a shot. I'm just not sure with Wallace and Hendo starting we would have enough shooting potential. In that scenario Dj and maybe Diaw would be all we have from 3, and Carroll all we have off the bench. Plus we have not seen Hendo and Wallace start together. We have seen Hendo and Jack start together, and it was our most success all season. Wallace isn't hurting us as much as Jack as this point, mainly because of all Jack's turnovers. But man, between the two they are both so frustrating to watch. The two really cannot work together, and they did max out last season. If Wallace did change his game because of Jack, which I don't think is the case, then he needs to realize it's not working and change it again. I think the true reason his game has changed is because he is just on a fast decline, which is the reason why he won't change back to his old game. He's just lost everything he used to have in terms of driving to the hole, backing people down, ect. Now all he can rely on is a jumpshot, that lets be honest, has always been shaky at best. We need a trade of these two.....but there value might have already been lost a week ago.
