This is just TOO DAMN GOOD. I'm a Hickman fanboy now.
I am currently reading Wolverine Origins. Astonishing X-men (great before switch of writers and artists), Ghost Rider(Daniel Way). I began reading the Red Hulk, but it just seemed uninteresting. I just read Punisher vs. Marvel Universe also.. dont read, not worth the money.
- Catholicism under severe pressure due to expansion of Islam in Europe
- Vatican heavily investing in scientific research being conducted in CERN
- keeping the time-traveling tech clandestine whilst maintaining the facade of disinterest in scientific pursuit
- sending a modern-day regiment back in time to make for a "better & correct" future
- human nature corroding the aforementioned idealistic vision of the contemporary world
- A GENETICALLY ENGINEERED POPE FROM THE DNA OF 1026 HOLY MEN AND WOMEN!!!!
Yeah, it's a bit wonky and off the wall but it's still a helluva good read. The art is breathtaking... click on the thumbnail to see it in full glory.

I've always wanted to like Hickman being that he's from the Carolinas but I never could get into him. He's like a poor man's Grant Morrison with high concept ideas that spiral out of his control. Still, as a champion for diversity, it's cool you enjoyed Pax Romana. Might wanna give Nightly News a go and Red Wing, Hickman's newest creator owned book.
PunisherMAX for me. Scalped is still my baby, but Jason Aaron is killing it on PunisherMAX! A bunch of good titles have come out of DC's new 52 initiative as well. Batwoman, Swamp Thing, All Star Western, Action Comics, and Justice League Dark to name a few.

The Red Wing is what endeared me to Hickman in the first place. I was exploring Image titles (since I caught up with the latest Invincible and figured I might as well look into something else) and thought to myself, damn, this fella sure is a wholly different kind of bird. As for the DC's new/old lineup, I think I'm gonna weather the dry spell storm for a couple of months before digging in, hate waiting for weeks on end to get my grubby paws on the next installment.
Sorry to bump an old thread, but made a post about comics on RGM and Swedd mentioned that there was an audience for that here. I started reading comics digitally again in December and used the New 52 books as a jumping off point because I wasn't really familiar with the DC universe. Justice League Dark, Batman, Swamp Thing, Wonder Woman and Action Comics have been my favorite. I, Vampire and Batwoman have some of the most appealing art.
Mark Waid's Daredevil is maybe my favorite of the Marvel books, especially since Mike Allred just got added. Love his pop art style, so I liked iZombie a lot, too. Uncanny X-Force is the other Marvel book I can think off off the top of my head that I have loved.
Outside of that, The Walking Dead (of course) and Saga are super great.
Excited to have some hoop fans to potentially talk comics with.
