    Default Story about Tyrus Thomas

Lang Greene has an article:Some Players Getting By On Potential...Tyrus is in it...
This is the blurb on TT and the link:

    Tyrus Thomas, Forward, Charlotte Bobcats

Expectation: After re-signing with Charlotte last summer to a reported five-year $40 million deal, at the very least Thomas was expected to wrestle the Bobcats' starting power forward spot away from veteran Boris Diaw.

The Reality: While the Bobcats are still in the hunt to secure a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, the team took a huge risk by allowing starting point guard Raymond Felton to walk in free agency and shipping center Tyson Chandler to Dallas. The continued development and maturity of Thomas was expected to ease the blow of the lost talent.

    It hasn't happened.

Before suffering a knee injury back in January which will keep him on the shelf for eight weeks, Thomas was averaging fewer minutes than in the 2010 campaign and only registered one start for the struggling Bobcats. Thomas is freakishly athletic who finished in the league's top 10 in blocks per game in 2009, but it may be time to stop expecting him to become anything more than a strong interior defender.
A tribute to "Crash"...We'll miss you Dude...

I myself see more in TT than what this writer sees. So for me this is all pure BS. Maybe he at "this time" is not worthy of an All Star nod but I feel he has the potential if used correctly and not being wasted on the bench as much as he has been. If anything this team pays him too much to be mired on the bench less than starters minutes. I don't know what he does or does not do in practice but it can't be that bad. What I do know is that I see flashes of real talent when he is in games. It is obvious how much his contributions are missed since he has been gone. Not just as a strong interior defender either. I don't say this simply as someone who is a fan of his but that is my honest assessment of his talent and what he does bring and can bring in the future. Basketball IQ be damned. He may not have a great basketball IQ but he is not basketball retard either. He has enough talent to help this team win games it otherwise would not. That is just my opinion unless I say otherwise. If this team rebuilds TT is for sure a key piece to that rebuilding effort as a member of our team.

tyrus isn't worth anywhere near the deal we gave him and i would trade him to the first team who asked, but this article is based entirely on larry brown coaching the team. tyrus played less than 10 games under silas. this is a case of the writer rehashing old arguments and using boxscores to defend an incorrect thesis.

He was having his best season by far. Unfortunately DJ was so bad under LB we had to have Boris play as much as possible.

We have no idea yet if the contract is bad or not. Give it at least a full season or so until you make that decision. Also anyone who bring up Tyson Chandler loses all credibility in my book. They always forget he was not our starter and sat on the bench about all year and had his worst season with us as a Pro and made 12mill in the process. Lol at this guy and lol when it comes to talking about bad contracts. TC=bad contract.

short of him averaging 15/10/2 blks per game for 35 min per night he won't be worth 9 mil. i can tell you that without seeing him play another game.

He will be a better player than he is now. But I doubt he will ever put up much more than 15-16 points a game. With that said he is worth his price because he brings hustle and D to this team. I want to see how he plays with the second unit now that they have forged somewhat of an identity.

He's definitely overpaid to be a 6th man and I agree with whoever said he's been under-utilized. Even if he if he wasn't going to be the starter, I expected more of an equal distribution of minutes between he and Boris. While at the moment his numbers don't justify the contract, I think that's just more a function of playing time than anything else. When he's played this year, he's played well and we've definitely missed him since he's been out. Plus, that deal was also an investment in the future. Boris won't be here beyond his contract, if he's here that long. There's no doubt TT is our starting PF for the forseeable future and we could do a lot worse. I'll take an athletic shot-blocking PF with a great mid-range J.

He was Very efficiant this year and if anyone has not read my blog on bobcatsbreak.com which i wrote a week before he got injured i URGE you to do so as it shows how much Tyrus has improved, trust me it brings up some very interesting stats. This is a typical writer looking in from the outside. All he does is look at the box score. If he actually watched any games he would write differently

Wow, has this writer even been watching the games or just looking at stats. I have generally not been a big Tyrus supporter (but not necessarily a detractor) but I've been very impressed and he's won me over this year.
