Nope. We're the Bobcats regardless of how we got the name.
I always liked how in the NBA team names were usually based off something about where the team is located. Since so many teams have moved and sent to other cities it takes away from it some. I always laugh at LA teams because what would you name a team From LA that has any relevance? Fakers, Actors, Smog, Stars, well you get my point. It would make me mad that my team represents something In Minnesota or San Diego in the case of the clippers. I think if NOLA keeps their team they should be called the Jazz and Utah should name their team something relevant. This also goes for a few other teams in the league.
If the Bobcats were to change the team name I would want to become the Charlotte Hornets again. I would not mind the Flight either or if they tried to incorporate something with racing and nascar even though I strongly dislike nascar. It would have to be something creative not just something stupid like the Charlotte Racecars.
I just do not like the Name Bobcats and do not like what it stands for. What do all of you think.
Nope. We're the Bobcats regardless of how we got the name.
Hope Resurrected: "I think I can bring an attitude to a team as far as, ‘All right, no matter what, we are not losing this game'." - Kemba Walker
"Its okay to be bad; just so long as you're bad ass." - Keetch
Keep the name, change the colors.
I'm pretty content with Bobcats. Flight would be cool, but not worth the rebranding.
Also, it's pretty easy for me to distance the name from the former owner.
SOMEONE will pay for THIS!
Bobcats is fine with me.
Maybe its because I dont live in or around Charlotte, but what relevance to the area does "Hornets" have? I realize that the team used to be the Charlotte Hornets, but how did that name originate?
Also, forgive me for my lack of knowledge, but what is wrong with the name "Bobcats" other than the fact that it sounds like a high school team name? What does it stand for?
Thanks!

Hornets is because during the American Revolution a British officer described the city of Charlotte as being like a hornet's nest aka the people there were a real pain in the ass to the British army, which is a cool story and unique mascot. Someone can elaborate more if they want.
Bobcats, people assume is named after Bob Johnson, the former owner. Bob's Cats.
The Hornets had a great name, mascot, and colors/jerseys. Bobcats have a bland name, a strange mascot, and terrible colors/jerseys (compare us to OKC, same color idea, but theirs just seem so much better). If MJ wants to stick with Bobcats, that's fine. If he wants to change the name and colors, even better.
And I do miss the Hornets.
Edit: Obviously, these are just my opinions, so no offense to anyone who really loves the Bobcats name and their jerseys.

You really think Thunder is a better team name than Bobcats?
Fact is, Bobcats is nowhere near as bad as some other team names. The majority of people who hate the name are still butthurt about the Hornets leaving so we could be named the Raging Velociraptors or something else completely awesome and people would still hate it.
Compromise: ThunderCats?
