Do you want a team name change?

I always liked how in the NBA team names were usually based off something about where the team is located. Since so many teams have moved and sent to other cities it takes away from it some. I always laugh at LA teams because what would you name a team From LA that has any relevance? Fakers, Actors, Smog, Stars, well you get my point. It would make me mad that my team represents something In Minnesota or San Diego in the case of the clippers. I think if NOLA keeps their team they should be called the Jazz and Utah should name their team something relevant. This also goes for a few other teams in the league.

If the Bobcats were to change the team name I would want to become the Charlotte Hornets again. I would not mind the Flight either or if they tried to incorporate something with racing and nascar even though I strongly dislike nascar. It would have to be something creative not just something stupid like the Charlotte Racecars.

I just do not like the Name Bobcats and do not like what it stands for. What do all of you think?

No because the name is way too established to make a change now and it is a real hassle to change names. Besides as it stands people are still making the mistake of calling the team the Hornets. If we stick with Bobcats we may one day get past the bogus Hornets name calling mistakes. If we change our name now the announcers will be making the mistake of calling that team the Bobcats. Hell they can not get their shit together. So I would rather keep the Bobcats name.

"Charlotte Flight would be good. The court could be called the runway, and the dance team would be flight attendants." They seem to like the idea... but the Charlotte Flight sounds like an WNBA team to me.

I think the brand Bobcats was never well received and remains weak. It's the child of Bob Johnson and should go with him; along with the dull gray-blue and orange colors. MJ could extend his strong brand and go with Charlotte Air or Air Charlotte. Or maybe Sky. I dunno.

Bobcats is a great name for your local high school or your kids youth soccer team. But I've always thought it was a bad name for a team of millionaires. The Rufus mascot is kind of creepy too.

If I was Owner, I'd name them Sky and hire a coach who emphasized jumping; running and jumping. Running, jumping and running and jumping. Once they got really really good at that; I'd give them a basketball and see what they could do with it.

I'd emphasize entertainment; at least until I was lucky enough to draft my very own Durant or Duncan. And no; screaming canned decibels and faux acts are not entertainment. Basketball is entertainment; Sneakers squeaking on the floor; players and fans yelling and cheering.

I still don't understand the "weakness" of the name. It seems like people hating the name has more to do with two things than anything else


1) They hate the Hornets leaving so will be irrationally against whatever comes after
2) They hate Bob Johnson and will be irrationally against whatever deals with him


If you really sit down and think about it, there are many other teams with far worse names than ours, yet they don't get the same derision. Is the Bobcats really worse than The:

Heat? Thunder? Magic? Raptors? Nets? Clippers? Lakers? Jazz? etc.

the bobcats name sucks point blank period, and the "raptors" names sucks even worse, thats why nobody respects the raptors fanbase or the team. Carolina Cougars would be the best name IMO if you wanted to keep the cat theme with the city, or I would go with the Jumpmen, Air Charlotte, Flight, Royals or Knights
