Like I said BP, there are exceptions. It's just a very, very high percentage are on this board.
Also, worth noting that Bobby J still owns 20% of the team.
I really see no reason for a name change...I never relate Johnson with this team anymore unless someone else brings him up...so I'm with others that doubt casual fans even know who Bob Johnson is/was to this team...
A tribute to "Crash"...We'll miss you Dude...

I must be an exception as well,as I'm 33 and don't have those misgivings about the team either. However, I certainly did hold the misgivings about Shinn, though.
I can see why the association with Bob Johnson makes one not fond of the name, but I just can't truly understand how the team name alone can hold someone back from being a full-fledged fan.
I may be in the vast minority, but I want the Hornets name back... could give N.O. the Jazz name back and find another name for the team in Utah.
Utah and Memphis should switch names. Utah's mascot is already a bear, just give it more of a grizzly look.
Yes, and for several reasons.
The Bobcats name should be changed because it was born out of Bob Johnson's ego. He's no longer a part of the team and it should be changed based on that fact. The colors, at the very least, should be changed because they're ugly.
If the team is going in a new direction then the mediocre reminders of the past need to be thrown completely out. That includes certain players, the team name, etc. It would be wise to start completely anew, including adopting a new team name.
Thirdly, the Bobcats name is completely uncreative and I think we easily have one of the worst logos in the NBA. Everything about the design is dreadful.
Just name the new MLL team if everyone is that bent out of shape over the name.
