    Default Game of Thrones

I didn't read any of the George R. Martin books, so the history of this world is completely new to me, but I have to say that I've really enjoyed the first 2 episodes.

    Anybody else watching it?

Like crazy. I loved the books, though.
There's a lot to like so far. It's pretty true to the books, it looks great, and most of the acting is top notch.

Some misses: the motives of some the characters are lost without time to expand on the backstory (the Dany/Drogo stuff), not much in the way of why the direwolves are important (they're not shown that much), and some of the acting by the kids is up/down.

Hopefully folks that aren't familiar with the source material are able to keep up on who's who and what their motivations are. After things get setup the first few episodes, events will start to snowball into some crazy shit.

Why are the direwolves so important?

For anyone else that is watching the series that may have read the books.

The brother of the very pale blond chick that is now pregnant ( The one that now refers to herself as the Calizi ). What is the back story on him? He says that he is supposed to be king?

The series is great, but I feel like I need to go and read the books to have a better understanding of the story.

Robert and Ned (and others) had a rebellion that killed the 'Mad King' Aerys and his oldest son. Robert married Cersei Lannister (the wealthiest family) and became king and cemented it through that marriage. Cersei was originally promised to the prince of the Mad King. Aerys two youngest kids got secreted out of Westeros across the sea. Viserys (the blonde guy) is technically the rightful king via a bloodlines. He worked out a deal where he sold his sister into marriage to Khal Drogo to get his horde and they would then invade and he could take back the crown. So Danaerys (the blonde chick) became Khaleesi to the Dothraki once she got married to the Khal. Right now (in the series), Viserys is basically getting pissed because Khal Drogo hasn't done anything yet.

I think the series is getting better. After a lot of exposition, things are picking up. I thought the first few eps were uneven.

Haven't seen any of this, so I may be talking about something totally different. However, in a lot of cases with child actors in what are considered (IRL, not in the movie) sexual situations, they're able to film the child alone, then edit it in so that it appears that the child and adult(s) are in the scene together.
