Default Bobcats.com Consensus #9 Pick: Alec Burks

    http://www.nba.com/bobcats/?tmd=1

Check out the 2nd feature on the front page, has #9 shown on as Alec Burks. Think there's something to it? They say it's based off of 11 different mocks that have him at #9, but when I clicked on the link, the mocks shown there don't have Alec Burks at #9 AT ALL, at least that I saw.

Anybody else think this is significant, being that it IS our official site? It then has us taking Klay Thompson at 19 and Chandler Parsons at 39. I'd like that draft and we would definitely have at least one impact player as a rookie and would be deep and talented for the future at the wings... Although, I don't know that I like that we would ignore the bigs, especially the 5, AGAIN.

They just take the mocks and then avg the total. He was ninth highest, that's all. We pick 9, so that is how they do it. Landing both Burks and Thompson in the 1st would definitely give us a lift, but I cannot see taking 2 SG's in the 1st. Agree that I would prefer a Big in the 1st as well, but these are 2 good players. If something like that happened, someone is being moved to a new city.

Pretty crappy draft considering it's our official website. We already have a former lottery pick at SG in Henderson, yet we take not one, but two SG's with our two first round picks. I get Burks' versatility and BPA at 9, and I like Thompson as the best pure SG in this draft, but why overload a position with Henderson already in the wings.

It's not the Bobcats' take on a mock guys. What they do is gather up all of the mocks and average out a players position. It just happened that all of the mocks they used had Alec averaged out as ninth.

Don't read anything into it other than it being a good idea of what most of the big mocks think will happen

Yeah, I figured they were averaged out because he wasn't selected 9th in any of the mocks. Also, I found it interesting that I read recently the Bucks have reportedly expressed interest in Burks, who pick after us... So, it seems he'll fall right around that area. And I wouldn't be mad with that pick at all, especially if he turns out to be a Brandon Roy-type player, because he can help at the point and give us some versatility in lineups when not playing at the 2.

Several drafts had us taking that Jan Vessely guy, who ESPN's Chris Broussard said might be the most athletic player in the draft. I don't know how I feel about taking him though.

If Vesely is on the board at #9, he will likely be a Bobcat. He's got a lot of talent and we could use him.

Vesely is still a potential based player. We need player like Hamilton or Burks that can contribute right away. After watching Vesely highlights, there is no difference between him and Tyrus Thomas. We already invested in Thomas, might as well invest in a future 3 such as Burks or Hamilton.
