Default Can We Make The Playoffs Next Season ?

    I think we can !

with two first round picks to go to out current squad i think we have a really good chance of making the playoffs next season. DJ Augustin had a great season and he's just gunna get better as each season passes, Capt Jack is still going strong, Hendo is the real deal. I think we need a new centre to be honest, someone who plays 35 mins a game and can score 12/13 points and also get 9 boards.

I hope not. At this point, I would rather go into full rebuild mode. Meaning that we trade Jax and Boris as soon as possible. Without Jax I dont think we have a chance to make the playoffs.

But, if we DO keep Jax and Boris for the season and try to win and rebuild at the same time, we should be able to make the 8 seed. I just dont think it would be worth it to keep Jax and Boris.

However, I do think we have a really solid core group of guys, and with two solid drafts these next two years can make the playoffs fairly consistently. Especially if we can lure a big name FA.

if we traded Capt Jack we would need someone who can score 18-20 points a game throughout the season

Trade up for either Kanter or Williams. If we do that and everyone stays healthy, we make a few trades/signings during the summer, we can make the Playoffs.

If we don't make the playoffs, we actually get to keep our own 1st round draft pick in a year that should have a pretty good draft-2012). Next year especially I'd rather be in the lottery than 7th or 8th seed unless we make some major roster moves this off season.

I'm with you on this. I'd much rather trade Jack and Boris to get cap space/young talent/draft picks as opposed to fighting for a 7 or 8 seed. I'd really like to start getting some good, young talent in here and let them start learning together next season. That usually means not making the playoffs, but with what could be a draft with a lot of talent, I don't think that's a big sacrifice. After picking up some talent in next year's draft, then I think that's the time to start thinking about making the playoffs.

What I forgot to mention, the following season (2013) when Chicago did get our pick, we would have Portland's 2013 pick (assuming they finish outside the worst 12 teams) so that we don't go through another draft day like last season, with no 1st round pick.

I think this team goes one of three directions prior to the season. Either trade up for Williams or Kanter, trade some combo of draft picks/Diaw/Jax for CP3, Steph Curry or some young talent that would be a franchise changer, or stand pat and draft BPA at 9, 19, and 39. I think either of the first two combos would equate to a playoff run while not compromising the "sort-of-rebuild mode". I think if we stay at our current positions, we end up with a solid starter and improve our bench, but don't make the playoffs. With the 3rd option, I think we ship out Jax and Diaw like Block, Scottley and Chef said and enjoy our lottery pick next year and hit full youth movement mode. I really hope we go with option 1 or 2.
