    Default Pick One: Biggest Need

If you had to pick just one area on the court to address in the draft, and whatever position that was, we were given a potential hall of famer to fill that area, what would it be?

I've got three areas in mind:

    *Big man/post player

*Playmaker/Guy that can create his own shot

*Primary perimeter shooter (a full-time starter who's primary strength is outside shooting but can do other things as well, but average at these other areas - think Ray Allen or Reggie Miller)

I know these aren't great descriptions, but I tried to narrow it down to these three areas because that is what I've been seeing most places say we need. I started reading up on some draft prospects and I came across one whose primary strength was creating his own shot. I've mostly heard that our needs are post players and outside shooting, but after reading up on this prospect, I thought about it a minute and figured I should throw in the "playmaker/shot creator" role...

    Why?

Because, think about our team... Who can create their own shot on a consistent basis? Jack? That's about it. DJ can too, but he doesn't do it consistently.

So, in my mind, yeah our 3pt shooting is horrid, but I think it's because we don't have a guy who can consistently draw the defense in and kick it out for open looks on the outside... We don't have a dynamic guy that can consistently demand the defense's attention no matter where he's at on the floor. Yeah, Jack can create his own shot, but he usually does it starting from a specific spot on the floor (he's usually already in the post or dribbling on the perimeter looking to shoot a 3).

But, if you look at guys like DWade or Rose, they can create shots from anywhere on the floor at anytime. If you go further down the ladder, a guy like Nick Young does much in the same. So, my vote is going with a guy that can make plays and create his own shot. You can find 3 pt shooting in undrafted guys... And yes, we need a big man, but in my mind, a dynamic player can make your bigs look a lot better than they are.

I'm not saying these players are in this draft, but for the sake of discussion, have at it...

We need a guy who can score 25 or so points in an effective manner, so pretty much, we need a star. Whether that's a big man like Randolph/LMa, or a wing like Melo/Ellis.

We'll be mediocre until we can get that.

A three point threat. Yes we need three point shooting in general but for me it's more because in this draft there aren't any cant miss guys and really you have to draft for your needs.

Not to de-rail the thread (or pick on you Ammo), but is this the general consensus?

Yes, a hall-of-fame center gives you a lot of options. There are plenty of shooters and play-makers in the league that you could find those guys later. A dominant big is very hard to find.
    SOMEONE will pay for THIS!
