Default Bonnell: Presser Notes On Kemba and BB

    http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_th...onference.html

The most interesting part of it all to me:

-- Coach Paul Silas said there won't be many situations, at least as a rookie, where Biyombo will be able to guard NBA centers. That likely means backup minutes at power forward, with Boris Diaw moving over to center.
I don't think Bonnell is right on this one... No way we move Diaw to center full-time... I think that means Diaw is gone and Tyrus and BB will be starting in some capacity.

Oh god....Diaw at center will be disastrous.

With Bismack's blocking ability, we'll be playing a modified zone anyway so it won't matter as much. Boris at center is based off of physical weight (to keep the opposing center from living on the block)

I know he did it in the past, but that was primarily with the Suns... And I'm sure he's matched up at times as a C in our small lineups, but there's no way he can be the primary center, or starting as the center. We're not the Suns.

And when we're talking about weight, I get that, but what most people ignore is that Diaw's weight is like cotton candy, whereas Dwight Howard's weight is like titanium. There's no way they plan on going into the season realistically thinking that will work.

Boris has been our best center for the last two years so no real surprise

Dwight Howard and Okafor played power foward their first year in the league, no surprise Biyombo would follow the same path, aslong as he plays Center from year 2 and on

Yeah, kid's 18. We can give him a couple of years. Agree with Swedd, though, that he could manage either spot depending on who he's paired with.

Diaw played as much center as Kwame did last year.

Playing Bismack at the 4 until he grows is fine, it'll get him to learn how to play on the perimeter more anyways.

Assuming BB is 18, he theoretically has 3 more years to grow. Could possibly hit 6'10, best case 6'11 w/ shoes.

Chuck Hayes does fine playing C at 6'6, BB is 3 inches taller. Dont see why he can't play Center, especially as hes more bulky opposed to TT who is lean and mean and Diaw which is all love fat.
