Default WOW! Jack: Bobcats Shut Me Down Because They Didn't Want To Make The Playoffs

    mikecranston1 Mike Cranston
Jack mentions out loud #Bobcats' plans to be terrible for short term. Caims they shut him down because they didn't want to make playoffs.

I know a lot of us understood after the Crash trade that the franchise decided to go a different direction, but I feel kind of duped for that last month or so of the season... To think that I was pulling for us to make it and they had full intentions of not even trying to make the playoffs.

I understand it, but man, that was rough just reading it.

    Also, he says:

Jackson also said he isn’t bitter about being traded by Charlotte.
“I didn’t want to be on a team where they’re going younger and they want to win three years from now,” Jackson said. “I’ll be at the end of my career. So winning now is important to me, and this is a great place to win now.”
Jackson was confused as to why the Bobcats held him out with an injury toward the end of last season.
“The last 10 games, I could have played,” Jackson said. “But they shut me down. The team shut me down. So I kind of assumed they didn’t want to make the playoffs.”
He also said he was excited to go to the Bucks because they're ready to win, but called the city boring, lol.

Sadly enough, I got that impression, and that's when I started pulling for the team again. Of course, I was extremely bitter with the Cats post-GW, so I was pulling against them, hoping they'd miss the playoffs, but with Jack riding pine, the team was more fun to watch as well. That season-ender against ATL was a lot of fun to attend what with Jr. and Dante drilling jumper after jumper.

Once again, though, Jack continues to show how misconstrued his image is. He's a stand-up dude, and really likeable, and people that keep bringing up this nebulous "off court" bullshit need to give it a fucking rest.
"The Charlotte Hornets name has been a mainstay throughout the region for many years, and we are excited to announce our intention to re-establish this historic brand. We believe that its return will galvanize our fan base by unifying our loyal Bobcats fans with those who have strong memories of our city's NBA predecessor." MJ, 5-21-13

it's a non-issue. every team does it and it is regarded as the smart strategy. you don't want to be mediocre. plus, he said he was guessing that they didn't want to win not that the team told him that.

Choice A: Play Hendo and Dante to see what you have, while letting Jack rest, and come back strong next year while improving draft position.
Choice B: Play Jack, risk injuring him so much he's in Diop territory, and still miss the playoffs.

    Which would you take?

During his press conference, Jackson said he considered himself to be not only "underrated'' but "underpaid.''

After the press conference, Jackson candidly told me he hopes to change the latter. Jackson said he had lobbied for a contract extension with the Bobcats and that his insistence for additional years was "directly'' tied in him being traded to Milwaukee.

Jackson has two years left on his contract: $9.26 million this season and $10 million for the 2012-13 season.

Jackson said he wants to play four more seasons, meaning he's seeking a two-year extension from the Bucks that would expire when he is 37 years old.

    ~snip~

When I asked how important an extension was to him, Jackson responded quickly and emphatically, saying, "It's mandatory.''

Being on a rebuilding team AND the Bobcats balking at extending him? He was going to "pop" a lot sooner than later.

    Have fun in Milwaukee Jax.

It just really sucks when you're a loyal fan and season ticket holder going to an arena knowing that your team will be tanking it and showing no pride, but showing "smart strategy," in order to draft the next sean may or adam morrison. Meanwhile im sitting in a $100 seat, eating a $40 hotdog meal with my fam watching a team who has never been more than mediocre, intentionally losing in order to be sub-mediocre for better draft picks, in the hopes that one day they will be more than mediocre...

I wonder if jordan ever tanked games or whole seasons...He seems like he had too much pride for shizz like that....

i hear you and sympathize, but as a season ticket holder would you rather see a team win enough to be ok but never actually compete or try to position itself to be great. it is a meta-game strategy.

I think most of us understood this after Crash was traded...I don't really see it as a bid deal...you need to play guys you pick up in trades to see if they fit what you're trying to do...and if Jack had been more messed up from playing hurt it would not have helped him in the short or long term...

I just feel like he liked it here (and I get that) and I see it more as disappointment (on his part) that things did not work out better for him or the team...
A tribute to "Crash"...We'll miss you Dude...

I hear where hes coming from, I like the guy still do and always have quite honestly I think this is the only place where Jack will come back and get a warm ovation from the fans. With that said yeah the Cats did tank and your right the playoffs aren't on their radar right now but its not a horrible thing. Overall I like our postion right nopw stacking talent and I like his position being able to win alongside Bogut and Jennings.
