Default DJ and Kemba playing together. Can it possibly work

    Via the Observer

To overcome the height disadvantage that would create, Silas plans to install a zone defense whenever the lockout ends and training camp begins.
Silas isn't allowed to talk specifically about players during the lockout. But there was no doubt who he meant Thursday when he said, "I'm going to have two little guys out there who I really think can hopefully play together.
I don't see how they can coexist on the court at the same time defensively regardless of if they are playing a zone or not.

    What do you guys think?

The positive of those playing together works into our supposed plan to lose next season.

No way do I see us being successful with those two as our primary guards. The good thing tho is other teams will recognize that and hopefully judge DJ by his offense and ignore the porous defense.

It's going to be hard for me...I can't stand crap defense.

For them to develop its good. Not for us to win but we dont really have a chance of doing that anyway. What about Hendo?

Hendo is overrated at BCP. He's a 6th man at best. Really he's the 7th or 8th guy in a rotation.

Hendo is a starter next to a scoring guard (like Rose) or a scoring wing (like Durant). Being able to guard the opposing team's best player is an invaluable asset when you play in the same division as LeBron, Wade, Wall, Johnson, etc.

As for Kemba and DJ, I don't see any way they can play in the same backcourt with any long term success. I see this as an experiment to see which player emerges as the dominant personality and future PG of the team since we only have one year left before DJ hits QO status

So you he could possibly work pretty well with Kemba then? Either way I like the idea of a defensive guy at the 2 who can hit the midrange. If Kemba can do what he's supposed to I think they can make a good pairing.

It's starting to look like hitting that QO year is the Year of Doom so far as hanging around Charlotte.

Well I'm one of those guys that would rather have a DWill/CP3/Nash type of PG than a Rose/Westbrook type, so I'm biased. With that said, I do think DJ/Kemba and Hendo can coexist in the same back court with good results------as long as they have an efficient 20+ scorer on the other wing like Durant, Kevin Martin, etc. It's just generally tougher to build around a scoring PG than it is a distributing PG.

I think he's saying in that article that he's willing to try both of them to see what happens and yes, they'd have to go zone. why not try it? your two best scorers? worth a shot.

I generally prefer those as well, but Rose did pretty damn good last year with a below average SG in Bogans and a Crash type of 3. I certainly don't think DJ is good enough to get there and Kemba hasn't done anything yet...tho I am intrigued by the possibility of him being comparable to AI. I know LB paired him with a defensive SG (which could be Hendo, and he's a better midrange guy than those paired with AI)...but I can't remember who their SF was.

Bogans was the guy who played Hendo's role but is a much, much better outside shooter and floor spacer. Deng is more efficient/dependable scorer than Crash. Boozer being able to score dependably in a variety of ways is also a huge help.
